1988 no Internet no manuals no computers or cd’s only a few records so I had to make my own music with 2nd hand machines that are now legend..I will never see electronic music from a dj point view,I’m seeing it from the construct.where you hear a beat I hear bass drum,snare drum,tom’s,symbols, rimshot,hi hat,strings,pads,synths,samples and how skilfully sounds are combined in to mixes …nothing to do with beat matching.it’s a dark art not understood by most.i find it so rewarding over 30 years later I’m still exited about sonic discoveries
