A Purveyor of deep, jazzy, atmospheric dance grooves and a feel-good atmosphere.” That’s how DJ Koziba describes himself as a DJ. Never afraid to go too deep, his emotive musical selections are his own therapy. Having grown up listening to Soul, Jazz, Funk, Disco, Hip-Hop & RnB - DJ Koziba ended up with quite a mixed spectrum of musical influence. Today, this translates into sets where he infuses together all the pieces of this music that he loves best - beautiful synth work, ethereal backdrops, brooding basslines, and occasional vocal hooks - all on top of a pronounced foot-shuffling house beat. DJ Koziba was born in Gaborone, Botswana where he grew up and also developed a vast knowledge of music.
Along with a wide range of musical genres, in 1992 he developed a passion for House music and started deejaying, using turntables - playing vinyl records to different crowds at various house parties, night clubs and festivals in Gaborone and surrounding areas. In 1995 his deejaying career was placed on hold in order to further his studies. Since the love of House Music and deejaying was growing strong in him, he began deejaying again in 1999 whilst at university in Aberdeen Scotland – where he also learnt the new technique / style of deejaying with CDJs. Upon returning to Gaborone in 2001, he joined radio as a part-time Radio Presenter at Gabz FM, hosting two late night weekend shows on Fridays and Saturdays - playing Deep Soulful House music. He continued to deejay at various house parties, night clubs and festivals in Botswana. He has also deejayed in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
