The devil is in the details: you’ll still have to decide where you want to cut the cake, who will take care of the rings and how your bouquet will get to your hotel room in the morning.

You see idyllic pictures of guests enjoying their dinner under the sky and think „oh, that is so lovely and simple! I want that!“
And yes, it is very lovely! Stunning, I would say. But anything other than simple or cheap. Behind this concept you have quite a logistic! Just think about:
- Renting all the furniture
- Renting all the kitchen appliances
- Lights (and you need quite a lot for your guests not to eat in the dark)
- Stage and dance floor
- Restrooms
- Insects protection
- Shade for a sunny weather
- Rain protection for a rainy weather
And all of this cost extra…
▪️ buffet for dinner
A buffet instead of serving the dishes is not automatically cheaper, it just isn’t. It is even more expensive sometimes, for example, if you want to offer fresh cut meat for your guests - in this case you would have to pay for an extra cook standing behind the buffet and serving it.
▪️ inviting less people
This one is tricky and kind of upsetting… It should be logical, right? Invite less people = spend less on a wedding. But you’re not saving as much as you would think… You have so many fixed costs (all the vendors, decorations, venue rent, your outfits, etc.) that these variable costs (F&B, furniture, etc.) aren’t changing much about your final budget.
▪️ DIY-ing
Adding to a „time=money“ argument, I just point out that you still have to buy all the high-quality products for your make up, find someone who will deliver your home-baked cake and transport and cool all your alcohol (and also pick up the left overs).
Can you think of anything else, than only seems cheaper? 🧐
