this year I had a record number of winter weddings. I always loved them, and now am even a bigger fan of the concept.

these are my „pros“ for a wedding in the colder time of the year:

🔹 better chances to book your dream venue (some of the places are booked 2 years in advance)
🔹 more confidence in the weather (less worrying about possible rain)
🔹 your wedding will not be one of many in your guest calendars
🔹 no intense sweating in your princess dress / 3-piece suit
🔹 opportunity to include unique winter activities to your wedding weekend
🔹 cozy atmosphere with all the candles and fireplace outside

What is the most important criteria when choosing your wedding planner?

Price?
Aesthetic?
Portfolio?
Experience?
Famous clients?

After years of working in wedding industry, my answer is - personality.

Because if you don’t „vibe“ with your wedding planner, you will not enjoy the process and probably will not get the result you want.

Tricky thing is that most planners choose the „magical fairy 🧚🏻‍♀️“ kind of persona online and it’s very hard to see through it. But you can read between the lines or just schedule a call and get the feeling of how the communication will be 👍

If you want to be a wedding planner, prepare to...

feel stupid! Like really stupid and quite often!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because in order for everything to work perfectly you will have to ask the same questions 100 times and repeat yourself 101!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You will not risk the wedding to miscommunication so just prepare yourself to double check everything and "kind remind" absolutely anyone about absolutely anything all the time 😅

If you work in a wedding industry and don't have an instagram account, we will probably never meet... Instagram is where I find most of vendors, read wedding blogs and check the latest trends.

If your friend is getting married soon, DON’T YOU DARE TELLING HER THAT! 😱

Here are my „favorite“ phrases that will cause a true rage if you tell them to a bride:

💥 have you canceled/postponed a wedding already? What is the plan? (This one is very relevant now. All others are timeless 😅)
💥 I would never spend money on THIS…
💥 When do you plan to start having children?
💥 Maybe you should reconsider your guest list? Aunt Brigit will be real sad if you’ll not invite her…
💥 A wedding planner? Good that I can plan myself and don’t need such thing…
💥 My boyfriend and I don’t plan to get married! Have you seen divorce rates???
💥 We need to start saving soon to attend to your wedding. Did you have to pick a venue with no cheap hotels nearby?
💥 And how much did THIS cost?
💥 A 100% I could buy it cheaper somewhere! You need to look more after your money…
💥 I can’t wait to steal this idea for my wedding!
💥 I’ve seen it on Pinterest! Or… I’ve seen something similar on Pinterest but better…
💥 Why do you worry so much? It’s just ONE DAY!
💥 Why a professional baker? Our aunt Brigit makes amazing cakes!
💥 Weddings were simpler and more personal back then… I don’t get these huge parties!
💥 Have you bought a dress already? Can I see? This one? And what is a return policy of this shop?

Ich bitte euch: seid nicht traurig, wenn euer Hochzeitstag verschoben werden muss. Besser gesagt: seid traurig, wütend, enttäuscht und deprimiert, aber nur für kurze Zeit. Und dann atmet tief ein und aus und kehrt zurück in die gute Laune.

Meine Empfehlung für euch: denkt euch einen neuen Plan für den ehemaligen Hochzeitstag aus!

✨ Ihr könnt doch noch zum Standesamt fahren und nachher in Pyjama zu zweit feiern.

✨ Oder ladet eure Gäste online auf ein Glas Wein ein? Heute gibt es doch so viele Möglichkeiten!

✨ Bestellt euch eine richtige Torte und schneidet ganz festlich das erste Stück gemeinsam, ganz nach der Regel „wessen Hand ist oben“.

Egal was - hauptsächlich ihr macht das gemeinsam und mit ganz viel Gefühl. Es ist euer Hochzeitstag und keiner kann ihn euch wegnehmen! 😘

Ihr seid „Brautpaar 2020“ - und das ist ein verdammt cooler Status! 😎

I beg you: don’t be sad if you have to reschedule your wedding. Or better to say: be sad, angry, disappointed, cry a little and punch a pillow… But then come back to your positive mindset ☀️

What you absolutely must do is to have a new plan for your previously booked wedding day.

✨ Maybe you will register your marriage just two of you and then celebrate at home wearing PJs?

✨ Or invite your loved ones to drink a glass of wine in a videoconference?

✨ Order yourself a real tasty cake and cut your first piece following all the „whose hand is on top“ rules!

Doesn’t matter what you will do - important thing is that YOU DO SOMETHING! And you do it together ❤️

It is your wedding day after all and nobody can change it!
