Raising Musical Munchkins

Musical Munchkins™ was founded in 2003 by Isabella Tabibian Cho, a trained American pianist with a love of children and education, who herself created the teaching methods and program. She discovered that by combining the study of music and language, children would build their competency upon each of the subjects concurrently.

Ms. Tabibian Cho began her study of piano at age 7. By age 11, she had won the Sonatina, and Sonata Special Medal Programs by the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She graduated from USC in 1997, studying under Daniel Pollack and Mark Richmond. While at USC, she served as the Student President of the Music Teachers National Association, Southern California. Throughout her career, Ms. Tabibian Cho has competed in and won, numerous prestigious international and national competitions, while teaching advanced level piano to an exclusive group of students.

After moving to Vienna in 2000, Ms. Tabibian Cho developed a unique model of teaching, which combines playful early childhood music with education and learning of English. She created the exclusive teaching and training manuals, books and classroom materials, and has produced several CDs with her own music and original songs.

From the very beginning, students were a mix of nationalities hailing from numerous countries. The diversity of cultures strengthened the student’s adaptability to learn, and early on Ms. Tabibian Cho strived to create this balanced combination of students. She saw that in addition to strengthening student’s skills, it also helped children who were new to the area, integrate more easily into their surroundings. Building on this over the years, the program has been adapted to include this element, and the extracurricular activities have been created to support the integration aspect.
