A slow burn of a love story that arrived at a beautiful moment under the towering gum trees of Woodstock Wine

A first date in Glenelg with Simon ever the conversationalist leaving Abby wondering if he’d ever take a breath. Their second date some months later resulted in a romantic goodbye kiss that ended up somewhere between Abbey’s ear and her cheeks, a move inspired by affectionate grandparents everywhere! And then after 5 wonderful months together, Simon set sail exploring every far flung corner of the globe, with a Christmas message seeing them find their way back together. Simon had finally found the person he wanted to come home to and Abbey fell hard for the thoughtful and attentive person who would do anything to make her happy.

The laughs we had throughout the ceremony really set the tone for the rest of the night. I had so much fun I lingered long after the ceremony finished, happily chatting to their down to earth friends, welcomed like I’d known them forever.

A meant to be moment after quite a journey to find each other, with each chance encounter leading them closer to their stunning wedding at Gomersal Wines

With Laura declaring Will to be the best looking bloke she’d ever met, a year before they actually went on their first date, and Will loving Laura’s ability to inspire him when he’d much rather rot on the couch after a long week, these two have built a life of love, laughter and shared dreams. And lets be honest, nothing says lets get married, like Laura needing a way to finally say goodbye to the constant need to clarify the spelling of her surname.

It was such a gorgeous day, filled with amazing vendors and all the perfect little touches to make their day effortless, joyful and a whole lot of fun.

Thankfully the palm house provided a dry spot for guest to congratulate the couple, who were absolute champs taking this soggy, thunderous day in their stride.

As a marriage celebrant in Australia, I see all sorts of love stories… but this one made me pause!

In Ohio, a lawmaker has proposed a bill to ban marriage between humans and AI chatbots - yes, really! The legislation would stop any “union” between a person and an AI system from being legally recognised, with the aim of preventing AI programs from gaining legal rights like power of attorney or financial decision-making.

It’s a fascinating headline that sits somewhere between social change, science fiction, and legal caution.

In Australia, marriages must still be solemnised in the physical presence of a registered celebrant and two witnesses - virtual ceremonies aren’t legally recognised here. By contrast, some parts of the United States, such as Utah, now allow weddings to be conducted entirely online via real-time video. So, while the idea of marrying something non-human remains far-fetched, it’s fascinating to see how rapidly the boundaries of “presence” and “partnership” are evolving.

If it ever became legal - would you officiate a ceremony like this, or attend one just out of curiosity?
