Shani Graham Marriage Celebrant

Shani Graham Marriage Celebrant I love being a marriage celebrant.

I think of a marriage ceremony as being the creation of a story, a lasting memory for you and the people who share the special day with you

Shari and Joe's "legal only" wedding was special for me as Shari was a student at Fremantle Primary School when I was a school principal there.

Shari and Joe had a magical weekend wedding planned down south but they were finding it hard to incorporate the legal essentials into the more alternative ceremony they wanted. So we had a separate legal only ceremony . . . . at my place!

It was fun! We decided on a backdrop, put up bunting, re-arranged furniture, Tim played some background music and we took the wedding photos in the goat pen and garden!

Afterwards I dressed Coco and Lady Marmalade up as a bride and groom and the bridal party went for a walk with the goats!

I'll let the bride tell you about this one . . . .

“Shani made magic happen! Her offering of a Nannup music festival wedding was just perfect for us. She turned our pretty vague idea of an intimate surprise ceremony into the most beautiful wedding we could imagine. She handled everything in the lead up and on the day, making it so stress free for us with little children. So many special touches from bringing along beautiful bunting and decorations, having her partner play acoustic guitar in the background, helping us source a photographer and seamlessly delivering the ceremony. She even managed to keep the 15 young kids engaged and involved on a very hot morning! We are so grateful Shani, our wedding would have stayed in the too hard basket forever if it wasn’t for your celebrancy magic!”

Wade and Gillian had the best speeches at their wedding. They actually had them before the ceremony.

It was great - their parents spoke and talked about what they were like as children, then good friends about their adult lives, then someone who was there when they first met . . . . and then they got married. A natural progression.

Each speech caused lots of laughter and tears and calls out of "who was there when that happened". It united a group who didn't all know each other.

Wade and Gillian hired a pizza oven for dinner after the ceremony and the guests really got to know each other as they made their own pizzas.

Wade and Gillian sent this in for my website -

Shani Graham was the most delightful, warm, non-boring, and thoughtful host for our wedding festival in South Fremantle. She made us feel completely at ease throughout the whole process, and was flexible in supporting us to create the wedding of our dreams (which was a little unconventional). Shani is a people-person and a natural wedding celebrant, and we have no hesitation recommending her to any happy couples wishing to tie the knot.

Thanks for the priviledge of being part of your special day!

This was the first wedding I led as an authorised celebrant. Vicki and Allen were getting married mostly for legal reasons, and initially they wanted something simple around a kitchen table.

In the end they had a small surprise wedding at home, inviting just their kids along for "afternoon tea" There was a bit of confusion ad people arrived about who I was and why mum had makeup and a white dress on, but once it was announced everyone was happy.

The groom wore some fake grass thongs he'd made, while the bride wore no shoes at all!

Vicki said "We feel very lucky that we were Shani’s first wedding!
From the first message to the follow up photos Shani was friendly, professional and made us feel very at ease about our big decision to finally tie the knot after 14 years.

Our marriage was not conventional and we wanted it kept very private and simple - even our kids didn’t know until they arrived at our place and we introduced them to our celebrant.

We hadn’t imagined that the whole event would feel as special as it did, and we thank Shani from the bottom of our hearts for helping to guide us through the formalities and making sure that we knew all of our options for wordings that meant more to us than the traditional (standard) vows.

It’s probably not appropriate to say that if we did it again Shani would be our celebrant of choice! 🤣"

Congratulations to Felicia and Daine.

Here's the experience in Felicia's words. . . .

Shani did an amazing job officiating our spur of the moment elopement at Nannup Music festival!! We had about 15minutes to discuss the details and it ended up being the sweetest most perfect ceremony. She completely matched our energy and vibe, grounded everyone with her heartfelt presence and even took some amazing photos afterwards. She was so quick to improvise and we honestly couldn’t be happier. So many happy tears and memories to last a lifetime! Thank you Shani!

Please meet LIz and Mark, who recently got married at the Nannup Music Festival - and quite a wedding it was!

Liz works as a street perfomer called Gertrude Wellease and she began the festivities dressed to the nines, wandering down the main street of the festival announcing her wedding. As she came close to the hall, she took off some of the bling, walzed through an archway of her friends and joined Mark as Liz.

Mark and Liz have been together for 30 years and the ceremony we put together reflected that - a love that has grown and changed over the years.

They are not an ordinary couple though - they exchanged paper mache ducks instead of wedding rings.

I had a ball helping celebrate this union and I thank Liz and Mark for the privilege.

And what a lovely email I got the next day - Dearest Shani
What a magical fit. Thank you for holding the space (and legalities) and supporting us in our expression of Love. We went with the flow and you helped it flow beautifully.
