Take a peak behind the scenes of our grapes journey from vine to table 🍇

Following the harvest, the grapes will undergo partial whole bunch fermentation, a process crucial for developing distinct characteristics in our wines. This method imparts bright fruity characters and savoury, herbal flavours thanks to the inclusion of the stems.

After fermentation, our Shiraz will age gracefully for 18 months in French oak barrels, enriching its depth and complexity.

Anticipate enjoying this beautiful wine on your dinner table around November 2025.

With cooler climate temperatures across the valley rolling in, the 2020 Balgownie Estate Macedon Ranges Pinot Noir is the perfect fire place accompaniment.

With medium ruby, brick-red and faint purple tints; the flavours encompass sweet raspberry, rhubarb and sour cherry scented notes. The wine is intense and deeply amplified by the 12 months' maturation in aged French oak.

The perfect match for those who enjoyed the intense and deep profile of the 2019 release.

🍇Vintage 2024 is officially complete!🍇
The last batches of red ferment have just been pressed to mark the completion of Vintage 2024.

Words from our Head Wine Maker Tony Winspear.

"V2024 vintage is officially done after pressing the last red ferment batches. Despite an initially slow start, a warm dry spell from late January through March ripened the fruit rapidly, filling our red fermenters twice over quickly.

Fruit quality has been excellent across the board, scoring a 9 out of 10 for both red and white varietals. I don’t believe in perfect vintages so 9 is the top score for me! Promising batches come from Bendigo and the Yarra Valley, with standout Chardonnays from both regions. The Yarra Pinot and Heathcote Grenache had a great year. We've also produced an elegant, limey Riesling from Harcourt, fermented in Foudre. The Balgownie Estate Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon are looking particularly fine and complex.

Kudos to our Vineyard team led by Steve Bullock and Rachel Moss for the gorgeous, pristine fruit. And thanks to Lachie Tenace, our assistant winemaker, and French cellar hands Marie and Loic for their hard work, dedication, and fantastic sense of humour.
