Such wonderful memories.

The first night of the Fringe @ Birdwood and what an opening act! Kudos to all the players and support staff who helped make it possible, and enormous thanks to those wonderful audience members who came along and supported us.

Howdy friends. You have probably searched online and the Fringe Guide from cover to cover for a show at Birdwood in 2015. Alas! Although we may host a guest or two for our students, we will not be hosting the Fringe this year. We are hoping to have a number of artists perform this year at our glorious venue and we will keep you informed via this page. Thanks for your patronage in 2013/14. Stay tuned :) (Kristina Vonow)

Excited to announce award winning local and ex Birdwood High student, Kel Balnaves will be doing a 'spot' this Friday night at Fiona O'Loughlin's Birdwood show. 8pm. Tix available at Birdwood Newsagent or at the door. Bar will be open!!!! See you there!

Nearly 750 people will have seen James and the Giant Peach in four days in five sessions, by tomorrow night. Well done cast and crew!!! Huge effort.

The music of Bob Dylan in the 70's, presented by a 10 piece band fronted by Luke Ashby, recreated the random, ramshackle spontaneity of Dylan's Rolling Thunder rRevue of 1975. The performance highlighted music from 'Blood on the Tracks' and 'Desire', along with a selection classic Dylan songs including 'Hurricane', 'Idiot Wind', Tangled up in Blue', 'Sara', 'Like a Rolling Stone', 'Highway 61 Revisited' and many others. Dylan fans were treated to a great band and great vocal performance, well worth the trip up the hill.

(Edith Piaf and her Insane Love) A dedication to the great artist, Edith Piaf who is called 'The Symbol of France'. She represented a certain era and 2013 was her 50th Anniversary. Larissa, direct from Paris sang the songs Piaf was most renown for.

'Larissa Zelenyuk enacted a wonderful exposure of the amazing, yet often troubled life of Edith Piaf. The passionate, sometimes sensual portrayal of a life loved by so many was fittingly accompanied by a superb soprano vocal.
A selection of Piaf’s acclaimed songs were executed with authority. The pre-recorded backing music was sometimes a little loud and tended to hide Larissa’s fine voice, but the fervour and excitement that she thrust into every song left the audience delighted. As well as the drama and pathos, there was humour that was not lost on the members of the audience who were fluent in the French tongue.'

Isaac Lomman hypnotised volunteers from the audience and turned them into the stars of the show. Even if Hypnosis is not something that you would normally be attracted to, Isaac guided his volunteers through some very amusing scenarios without encouraging anyone to do anything their friends and families may not let them forget.. unless you count the spider / shoe / thing... He was great fun and a great guest, spending time with audience members after the show, posing for pics and answering a hundred questions from our students. A fun act, and a great bloke. Catch him again during the Fringe, at the Gov.
