Hi, is this thing on? I know we have some new followers here and it’s always good to put a face to the name with an intro post (or so Em says!)

I’m Kat, I’m the owner of GG, and I’m 32. I like to remind myself that Kylie Minogue first released ‘Spinning Around’ at 32, so honestly, my best years are to come 🪩🕺😂

Leading a group of millennial/gen z florists means the star sign chat in the workshop is a non negotiable topic of conversation. Apparently I am a Ta**us through and through.

Practical, considered, and calm under pressure, with an eye for beautiful things.

Despite opting out of senior maths in high school, I’ve learnt over the past 5 years in business how to read the numbers. Although I’ve thought of myself as a creative my whole life, I’m actually really proud of the left side of my brain for finally catching up.

My favourite colour is green and my favourite flower is Chocolate Cosmos. My favourite season is Autumn and I’m in my element in an artisanal bakery.

I love learning about history. I love learning about history through travel.

Although I’ve stayed in Australia mostly for the past five years to get this thing off the ground, travel adds a lot of value to my life and I can’t wait to get back at it.

Personally, the last few years have been very tough. I’ve definitely experienced my fair share of loss, grief and heartache.

Having a project to focus on like GG has helped me move forward, and last year in particular the business kicked a lot of goals that I had in place since year 1.

When couples enquire with us via the contact page, I ask what your guilty pleasure song is… it’s my favourite part of the email to read! So if you’re up to being utterly shameless, share your guilty pleasure song in the comments.

Jill + Brad’s gloriously colourful ceremony space - I have to say the broken arch arbour is one of our most popular ceremony options. It can really create an impact and be quite easily repurposed to the reception space if close by.
We can even tailor the thickness of these structures!

All of our arbour structures are complimentary with our floral design service (plinths, full arch arbour, various sizes of stands) so if you’d like to see some ceremony options please get in touch via the website.

Today marks 5 years of Garden Graffiti out in the world. I told myself to remember this date so that I could celebrate this moment 5 years on.

It’s incredibly awkward being in front of a camera solo… but I thought some unique headshots was a great way to get out of my comfort zone, and that’s what owning a business is truly about.

I can’t wait to share more of these photos over the next few months - thank you for making me feel more comfortable with a holding a straight face 😐😂

Professionally and personally, these past 5 years have been very tough and extremely rewarding. The rewarding part in events is definitely the ‘ahh’ moment, when you finally step back from all the details and see the vision as a whole. So I want thank all the couples and clients that have engaged Garden Graffiti as their florist, thank you for your trust!

I also wanted to thank all my family and friends for their continuous support, and a special mention to my amazing mum, who heart-achingly passed away in late 2020, she was my biggest champion. And I feel that she still is.

The Refinery has the absolutely best wall for a hanging installation so we always say go for impact there if you’re getting married at this inner city venue.

Every month we’re going to celebrate an in season flower! For February, it’s hydrangea paniculata (also known as the limelight hydrangea). They’re a different shape from regular hydrangeas… we especially love them due to their soft serve ice cream cone look!🍦
Each bunch has variegated colourings and tones throughout, making them a dynamic addition to any arrangement. Once cut on the angle and split up the stem, hydrangeas drink a lot so make sure you keep the water vessel topped up. A little florist tip, these beauties can dry quite nicely, hang them upside down for a week and you can enjoy them even longer!

It’s not everyday that you get to be a florist and a bridesmaid at the same wedding! These are a few joyful snaps from Lucy and Tom’s wedding. I’ve known Lucy since we met in grade 1 at primary school, and I was so appreciative to be apart of their beautiful day.

It was filled with so much love, lots of dancing and even a soft serve ice cream van at the end of the night 🍦
