Mermaid Nixie is a Professional Mermaid and proud business owner of Southwest Mermaids. I live in Southwest region and love to make a splash while “Keep the magic alive”. Since starting Southwest Mermaids I have had some amazing opportunities, swimming with marine life; whale sharks, manta rays, reef sharks and dolphins. For the past four years I have been working along side the iconic Busselton J
etty, Western Australia my home town. It is the longest timber piled jetty in the southern hemisphere. Here I have the opportunity to perform (freediving) in 8 meters of water with my mer-pod during the summer periods for all the tourist around the world who come visit this destination. Through having these experiences it has helped me, as a Mermaid to educate the Children and how we can look after this environment for the future. I have completed my training within the Dive SSI to be a qualified Mermaid Instructor. Due to no affiliated Dive Centre within my area, I have been given permission to be a sole trader and run my own Mermaid School, which opened up 2021. Nixie is currently accepting booking for Birthday Parties, Appearances, Events, Resorts, Mermaid School. Back in November, I swam into Dunsborough for Bay OK Day. I love surprising all the wee fish. We get to talk about the ocean and how we can maintain it for the future. The ocean is part of our ecosystem and needs to be cared for as much as our land. Thank you for the beautiful book with all your amazing artwork.
Picking a Mermaid Name can be really hard. I have just discovered the meaning behind "Nixie"
(German) meaning "water nymph" after shape shifting water spirit in Germanic mythology. It is said that they can not live happily if they're too far from water.
I think this name suits me perfectly. Considering I'm always on it or in it. When I'm not a Mermaid, I love scuba diving, freediving, and work on boats. Water is never too far from my soul!!

What should we name the mermaid under the Busselton Jetty
Just thought I'd let you know I will be going away from the 11th - 30th November 2023. I'll get back to my emails when I'm back in the sea castle.
There will be limited spots this following year, 2024. I have been given an awesome opportunity to work alongside . I started working with this company this year, watching humpbacks do their Southern migration. As of December 2023, I will be swimming to Bremer Bay and working their season watching Ocras, s***m whales, blue whales, seals, sharks, and more. I'm very excited to spread my fins and learn new things. For those of you who have already booked, please don't stress as you're locked in. For future bookings it will be weather those days are available. Sorry for the inconvenience. I will also not be running Mermaid Lessons, but I can pass you onto someone in Perth who may be offering classes .awn
Mermaid Nixie is heading to on the 7th - 9th September. While I'm there, I will be offering a one on one mermaid appearance for $130 for 45mins . This will allow your sweet guppies to meet a real Mermaid, photo opportunity, mermaid interaction, and a small gift.

Behind the scenes!!! I have learnt alot over the years and being a Mermaid is not all about having fun, it's hard work. I have been in this industry as professional Mermaid for over 7 years and wouldn't change it for the world. Each time I've learnt new things and grown. There is alot of preparation that goes on behind the scenes, that no one sees, from preparing gifts, organising activities, packing, unpacking and cleaning, plus getting into character and our costume cost a fortune. This is where the magic began. It all started with a fairytail when this lovely family surprised their daughters for Mermaid Tours at the Busselton Jetty . As they write their wee message in the sand and watch the ocean wash it away. There was slight disappointment with the girls that I may never see the message, but lucky the sea is full of magic. On the weekend I swam into Bunbury as I surprised Sophie for her Birthday. I had such a fintastic time sharing the magical experience with Sophie, her friend and sisters. Tomorrow is the day. Southwest Mermaids return to Busselton Jetty and we are so excited!!!! The full tours are sold out, however, if you feel like a bit of fresh air and exercise, go for a Mermaid Mini Tour instead!! Arrive to the Interpretive Centre by 8:30am. Walk 1.7 km to the Underwater Observatory - soaking up the views and history along the way. Then, spend 15 minutes within the Underwater Observatory browsing at your own pace, spotting Mermaid Nixie and other marine life through the windows, and meeting Mermaid Summer for a photo opportunity before walking back to shore at your own pace, or purchase a one way train ticket back to shore (subject to availability).
