In outstanding news, we have a date and a location for the OCC 2023 season Championship tournament!

Looking forward to today's conclusion of Crocodile Cup GT - Arks of Omen Season Finale & NT Qualifier Event where we determine who gets the first NT entry pass to this awesome Oceanic event!

Good morning folks, hope you are having a good Thursday. One of the players for the upcoming tournament has let me know an important commitment has come up for round 3 so I want to let you all know what I'm ruling for drawing a 'bye' game.

In the event of a bye, I will seek to arrange a game either with a walk-in player or by playing myself to ensure nobody has a 3 hour wait for action. The absent player will receive zero points for the round (sorry!). The bye player will receive a default 70 points win UNLESS they win their bye game by a greater score, in which case they will receive that higher score. I won't be playing easy on anyone and I'm sure no walk ins will be throwing games either, so don't take it as a sure bet but don't worry if you don't perform well against whatever army is brought to bear.

I'll be looking for a little thank you to any walk in players as a token of appreciation, and I'll average the wooden spoon /lowest highest score for x wins prizes so that neither the absent player nor anyone else is advantaged/disadvantaged as far as possible for prizes.

Excited to see you all on the weekend!

Day two brought our Crocodile Cup - Darwin Warhammer Tournament Series Teams Event to a close, with a heroic attendance by the Darwin 40k community. We had four teams of four going almost all event thanks to the sometimes short notice and sometimes generously supportive efforts of a few community members.

At this event we used a victory points differential to score games, with winners scoring 20 points for a win by over 50 points, 10 for a tie and 0 for losing by over 50. Scores were factored in each round as captains chose player pairings and assigned tables for each game.

After a lot of close competition and some swinging back and forth for the top spots, we finished the event with Team Lachlan, Alan, Tim, Chris M and Zeke in first place with 297 points.

Second place was team Shane, Jack K, Riley, Snowy and Chris C, with 292 points (so close!)

Third place came team Jack W, Mark, Ethan, Liam and Levon with only six points fewer, at 286.

Finally, team Ned, Nick J, Matt and Connor got a full six games in each, finishing up with a valiant 85 points.

Our best and fairest for each team were:
Shane, Zeke, Mark and Nick J; outstanding gaming and sportsmanship from these guys!

Lastly, this event had painting open to the public, and our winner was the sole Tau player of the event, the elusive but highly artistic Liam!

Thanks so much to everyone for coming along and making this such a great event. Thanks to our hosts Stone Monkey Trading As Comics NT and also to Best and Fairest prize provider Adam of https://www.facebook.com/UprisingAdelaide. Support like this makes a huge difference to this hobby and to this community!

Uprising: Adelaide will be the culmination of the 2020 Australian ITC Championships. This premier event will be suitably hosted in an event space, with ample space between tables, air conditioning, licenced bar and table service.

Super impressed by these fantastic photos that Nick Parry took when he dropped by day 2 of Crocodile Cup Teams Tournament yesterday!

What awesome shots, showing off some exemplary players and beautiful armies. Thanks again to everyone who came by and looked in, said hi and cheered on each team!

Also, you can see what an awesome venue Stone Monkey Trading As Comics NT was for us - Thanks again to David and Ben for putting us up and putting up with us!

Day 1 of the Crocodile Cup Gladiator Teams Tournament was a smash hit with 18 players across 4 teams playing 24 hard fought games of 40k! With Captains doing their fantasy football best to pair players, armies and tables to try and manage team scores, we see Metamates in the lead under Captain Jack "Best and Fairest" Wickham. We've had great visits from support folks and the general public all coming to cheer on the teams and vote for best painted, so please feel free to come along and show your support on Day 2!

Hey everyone - how exciting, lists for the Teams Crocodile Cup - Darwin Warhammer Tournament Series are visible on DUP and on the tournament page in the team bench post!

Super keen for this event, and I can't wait to see some awesome team spirit on display.

As a PSA, I'll be flying out with work for the next two weeks and get back just in time for the event. If you have any questions in the mean time, please feel free to shoot them across and bear with me if I don't answer immediately.

Howdy Darwin Warhammer enthusiasts - Some quick advice to those awesome humans who are Team Captains for the upcoming Teams Tournament!

To register your team:

First - make sure everyone is registered on Down Under Pairings (Sorry, this will be the last time we have a Crocodile Cup using DUP, after 02 April we'll be switching to Best Coast Pairings).

Second - Go to the Down Under Pairings Teams Tournament event page here: https://downunderpairings.com/Tournament.php?TournamentID=1836&Panel1=Info

Third - click "create team"

Fourth - Fill in your team name and each player's names in the relevant boxes. Players with accounts will appear as you type their names in, so make sure you associate the right account! If you have a "benched" player, put them in the "non Playing member" section and I'll update on the day.

Fifth - Get your lists in by the 15th or let me know if that presents a problem so we can arrange a later submission.

Last - Get super keen, team chants, team shirts and Captains hats/cocktails.

Look forward to seeing you all there, let me know if you are having any issues!

Friday may be day 2 of the Season 2 Finale Event, but here's a great event with a bit more notice.

Crocodile Cup will return in 2023 with a Gladiator Style Teams Tournament on 01 and 02 April!

Take the lead (and steal Snowy's captain hat) or join a crew - we need 16 players for 4 teams to make this work and can support up to 24 players or 6 teams, and the more pairs of teams we get the better this event will be!

Venue details are TBC, but that's no reason not to head on over to Down Under Pairings and sign up early! 🐊🐊🐊

12/12/2022

By popular request, the next Crocodile Cup will now be shifting from 17 Dec to 18 Dec 2022 - tell your friends! 🐊🐊🐊

08/12/2022

Stay tuned folks, event details for twin event days on 17 and 23 December being released later tonight!

Thank you so much to those who reached into their pockets for the Crocodile Cup and Emerald Hobbies charity raffle. Thanks to your generosity and raffle ticket purchases, we've raised $500 to donate to Soldier On, our chosen charity this year. Emerald Hobbies has been a long term supporter of community Warhammer events in Australia and I'm really proud to continue the association with the Crocodile Cup!

Congratulations to our raffle winner - watch the video to see who that is!

A massive thank you to our sponsor Hub for their continued support to Crocodile Cup events. Tonight was the second Crocodile Cup event Hobby Hub has hosted, and without the awesome support that George, Shane and Maria provided there's no way I would have been able to have got this off the ground.

Congratulations again to our contestants, and in particular well done to:
Winners: Snowy and Maria
Second Place: Jack K and Liam
Third Place: Levon and Mark
Best and Fairest: Jack K and Shane, king of the Warhamms
Best Painted: Darcy
Glory Hog (most glory points) Liam
Selfless Commander (smallest glory points to score ratio) Levon
Wooden Spooners: Darcy and Ashley

I certainly had a blast at this event, and I was really glad to hear positive feedback from all you participants!
Hope next time we can break the 12-participant ceiling we seem to have on events in Darwin!

Our tournament champion and voted Best Mentor was Levon with his imperial Knights - his first time running them too!

Levon took on a lot of his lessons with sisters in playing these Knights and it was awesome to see how across their various rules, relics and traits he was, no easy burden! Levon made a lot of tactically wise plays, at times trading honour for victory points and other times really hammering home his oaths to buff his army! Throughout he maintained an absolutely excellent Sportsman like attitude and fun to learn against approach. Well done Levon, congratulations!

Can Levon keep his 2 point lead over season 2 of Crocodile Cup? Will our awards handshakes be more awkward if his victories continue? Come to the next event to find out!

Lachlan brought a super fast Grey Knights list to Crocodile Cup RTT 3 and they also performed outstandingly, being really in with a shot at the title. Lachlan went heavy on the teleporting interceptors with nemesis dreadknight support and sliced and diced his way through enemy Armies with a lot of speed!

Ned subbed in for game three while Lachlan went out to a prior commitment, so we may have to wait until the next Crocodile Cup RTT to find out who of these two generals would take the day... as it played out, Ned despite his best efforts couldn't overcome the hight toughness and fire-power of Levon's imperial Knights.

It was awesome having you along Lachlan, look forward to seeing you at the next event!

As a heads up to everyone, Lachlan is on the team planning TropiCon for the first weekend of October this year - keep an eye out for event details as the date closes in!

Team my photoshop skills can do nothing but improve, but don't let that get in the way of how grateful we are in the community and as TO and player at Crocodile Cup for the support that Comics NT have provided to the tournament series this year. Comics NT have long a history of supporting local events and the local community, with Des very generously providing me event prize support back in 2015 and Ben(s) and Dave have absolutely kept up the tradition.

Keen to support the community and the positive attitudes we see here in the NT, Comics NT have provided vouchers for community awards such as the Sportsmanship Award as won on Sunday by Donald. They've promised ongoing support throughout the event series, and I highly encourage you to reward that support for us back to them!

You can find them at Comics NT in Casuarina Plaza (of course) and online at https://stonemonkey.com.au/

Thanks so much guys!

Donald joined us for his first time at a Crocodule Cup event and brought along the Space Wolves that he's been fielding to teach his son to play. He got to take some of these awesome models straight off the painting table and into his travel case to come to play that morning, too!

Donald was an absolute pleasure to have along to Crocodile Cup, bringing absolute sportsmanship along with a great gaming attitude and enthusiasm to play and to learn. No wonder then that he was voted the best Beginner and the winner of the Sportsmanship award, generously provided to us by Comics NT . Awesome work, Donald!

Of course, he's updated it since then with some beautiful new models, judging by the fact that Luke took home the award for Best Painted Army, I'd say he's got some great technique behind his Ulthwe! It was great having you along Luke, really hope we see you at the next event!

Zeke brought the hardest and most resilient Dark Angels about to this Crocodile Cup RTT. Unfortunately, while these knights would be brilliant to take down some Heretic Astartes with the new book, against the teleporting and psychic Grey Knights he had a rough time as they shot up the board like a silver flash and exploded his brains inside their terminators suits with space magic. Rough!

Despite the difficulties, Zeke kept his chin up and had a great event, and man were we glad to see him there! Can't wait to see these terminators with some combined arms support taking down fallen and chaos in the events to come Zeke!

Snowy brought some awesome Grey Knights to Crocodile Cup RTT 3, and wow did they hit hard! Snowy fought super well and came second - he lost his grudge match to Levon by just two points and then didn't let Levon's lead grow at all through the tournament, finishing in second place just two points behind at the end of the day. Snowy also received lots of votes towards Sportsman and Mentorship and Best Painted and was just an all round excellent participant on the day.

In addition to just being a standup good bloke at the gaming table, Snowy also donated the tournament "Best Beginner" prize. That kind of awesome generosity is hugely appreciated by EOs like me and most especially by the community as we get new (and returning from hiatus" players in and encourage an awesome attitude and approach to gaming and hobbying. Thanks Snowy!

Last Sunday saw Crocodile Cup RTT 3 run at Warhammer Casuarina. The 1250 point games on incursion sized tables proved particularly brutal, with all armies quickly closing to the fight. Our participants all got to see how scary Grey Knights can be when they close to fight early in a game, and Levon running his first Imperial knights army honed his skills in the first game against them to best a second GK army and emerge champion of the Tournament!

Stay tuned for more photos, and a massive thanks again to the players, to Ned and Warhammer Casuarina for hosting and to Comics NT for generously supporting the community by providing our Sportsmanship award.

Also, please head over and join the Darwin Tabletop War-gaming community which Ned has brilliantly set up to be a community forum and all-game systems communication platform for Tabletop Gamers in the NT. Great going Ned!

Great news for those coming along on 03 July to our Warhammer Casuarina RTT - while i don't have it yet, we will be using the Warzone Nephilim Grand Tournament rules to kick off the season!

Missions will be 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 - whatever they are!

Command points are halved and relics and Warlord traits now cost 1 CP each - so make sure you factor that into your lists!

I'm super keen to see what this means to the state of play, look forward to seeing you guys all there!

What better time than now to reflect and look back on another of our presenting armies, Lachlan's Grey Knights! These guys presented with some really beautifully painted models and a terrifying paladin squad that could eviscerate almost any opposition in close combat. Great having you come play Lachlan!

Shout out to Emerald Hobbies for their amazing support to Crocodile Cup - not only have they provided prize support for our first place and best painted winners, they have also provided a very rare remaining New-In-Box copy of Games Workshops' Piety and Pain box set. This is a great value set that will be a great addition to anyone's collection, either as a figure set or as the start of a new army!

Tickets can be bought in person at Crocodile Cup Events, and also from Trybooking at the link here:
https://www.trybooking.com/CADYE

$10 ($11 online) for 1 entry
$20 ($22 online) for 3 entries

The raffle will be drawn online on video, 30 Sep 2022 to coincide with a future Crocodile Cup Event.

All proceeds will go to Soldier On, less those to post the Piety and Pain Box to the winner if they are not local.

Shout out to Big George from Hobby Hub - it was really great having such a supportive sponsor, and even more so having him join us on the weekend and get his dice dirty with some hectic games. There's no way Crocodile Cup would be as good as it has been without his support and the support from his huge team - thanks Shane!

Look forward to working with you to grow the community and improve Warhammer events in Darwin generally George! Thanks a ton!

The next Crocodile Cup GT Army profile was our very appreciated Sponsor, and winner of best painted Army (and second place by just 1 point) - Big George!

George has been working on these tyranids for a few months and man have they come on well! Just seeing the progress since the 07 May RTT has been super impressive and that best painted award is very well deserved!

Fantastic painting George, we all loved and dreaded seeing your flying unmentionables heralding the dread horde of monstrous xenos coming across the table! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰

Next in our Crocodile Cup GT army profiles is Jarryn's super resilient Dark Angels army. These guys took a whole lot of damage in their stride during the tournament and despite some serious attempts to wipe them off the table they managed to hold their own very well, winning two games and teaching a lesson in resilience to many foes.

I particularly like the freehand work Jarryn has done on his Deathwing Landraider, it is an exceptionally nice touch, and no wonder he received votes for best painted. Excellent work Jarryn!

Here's our winning army from the weekend, Snowy's Blood Angels!

What an impressive collection - I've admired Sanguinary Guard for a lot of editions now and Snowy really showcased them well here both tactically and by painting them up beautifully. He also went for a real 'true blood red' for his primaris marines, which looked great in contrast to the firstborn and elites! Well done again, Snowy!
