Artist Spotlight: Dj Reconn

Originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, DJ Reconn was exposed from an early age to big names of the international drum and bass scene, which sparked a lifelong dedication to his craft. A turntablist at heart, he brought his unique style to multiple venues in New Zealand and Australia. His ability to genre-hop and bring energy to any crowd cemented him as a staple of DnB.

DJ Reconn has supported the likes of Phace, Spectrasoul, Axiom, Artificial Intelligence and Friction to name a few. Equally comfortable on turntables and digital media, DJ Reconn can seamlessly integrate a promoter's brief in his set. Introducing Pauly, an old school head (circa 92) mixing it up in a new school world and still frothing the bass, originally from the UK but now calls sunny Australia home and is busy promoting and playing on local events around QLD With Jungle Jam and Shadow Bass events.

He has a soft spot for Jungle but indulges in all things underground and always brings the musical knowledge and enthusiasm wherever he goes.

Artist Spotlight: Kranky💥

Kranky lives and breathes breakbeat, both as a DJ and Producer - from Old Skool Hardcore, Rave, Hardcore Breaks, through to Jungle and Drum n Bass, expect nothing less than a flurry of broken beats, low frequencies, heavy basslines, samples and scratching in his sets. Over the years as a DJ, Kranky has DJed both locally in QLD and interstate, and played sets supporting international DJs and artists such as DJ Hype & Daddy Earl, LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad, Micky Finn & Shabba D, Tango, A-Sides, Concord Dawn, State of Mind, Skream, Benga and more during the Brisbane legs of their overseas tours.

First introduced to the sounds of Old Skool Hardcore Rave, Breakbeat and Jungle on mixtapes and through raves in 1992/3, some of Kranky’s earliest electronic dance music influences were DJs and artists such as Angus, Thief, Jen-E, DJ Hype, Easygroove, Tango & Ratty, Carl Cox, Slipmatt, Krome & Time, Ratpack and The Prodigy. By 1996 he was mucking about in tracker software, and mixing up his own tapes and CDs on computer for mates.

With roots deeply entrenched in the underground scenes of jungle and drum n bass since the early 2000s, AQUI has forged a path through clubs, festivals, and parties across Canada, New Zealand, and Queensland, Australia. AQUI is also recognised as one half of the Hex Sound System, a hand-built sound system out of SEQLD.

Known for a dynamic style that spans diverse bass music genres, AQUI blends influences of jungle, broken beat, bass, breaks, and footwork across a wide range of BPMs. Each set is a journey through an array of rhythms and phat baselines , reflecting AQUI's passion for pushing the boundaries of electronic music. From intimate club sets to full tilt festival stages, AQUI continues to bring a unique sound to the dance floor that resonates deep within bass culture.
