Don’t miss this event! Happening all day until 4PM this evening at the Maclean Show Grounds.

Lower Clarence Scottish Association

Maclean, also known as ‘Australia’s home of the highland hearts', comes alive when over 20 pipe and drum bands take over the streets in the Pipe Bands on Parade at 8.30am this morning.

At 9am the main event begins at the Maclean Showground. Grab yourself a vantage spot on the grandstand and marvel at the talented pipers, drummers and dancers.

Here you will also witness the brute strength and skill of the traditional Highland Games when the lads and lasses take on the caber toss, putting the stones, haggis hurt, and the kilted dash. Now that's a sight to see! Over 100 Scottish dancers are also competing throughout today.

This day is not to be missed on our Clarence Valley calendar and proudly brought to you by the Lower Clarence Scottish Association.

All information and ticketing can be found at:

Huge congratulations to Grafton Jacaranda Festival Manager, Mark Blackadder who has been honoured with a prestigious NSW Community Service Award from the NSW Government in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to the local community, none more so than transforming the Jacaranda Festival into a spectacular regional event.

In making the announcement Clarence MP, Chris Gulaptis, said Mark is ‘king doer’ of all things and no mountain is too high when it comes to achieving great things for his local community.

“Not only has Mark set the bar high in terms of showcasing Grafton as an all-inclusive, international tourist destination during Jacaranda, but he was instrumental in bringing headline acts such as Jessica Mauboy and Dami Im to Grafton for the recent NSW Government-funded Groove in the Grass event.
“Mark didn’t stop there and has topped that act by securing two of the country’s best musical storytellers, Troy Casser-Daley and Don Walker to headline the opening of this year’s 86th Jacaranda Festival along with our First Nations people.”

Mr Gulaptis said not only does Mark go above and beyond for all things Jacaranda, but you will also see him supporting other community events such as the local Rotary Club, Australia Day events and marketing the annual Carols by Candlelight.
