Last week, while imperative discussions and decisions were being made by the Members of @firstpeoplesvic, the FGE team were back of house with operating the logistics to support them in this crucial role, with the help of the lovely community at @rumbalaracoop.
Our team were welcomed by Uncle Lance with an emu feather necklace to help keep us safe on Country. Rumbalara offers Culturally appropriate care for Yorta Yorta elders, and is the leading provider for holistic Aboriginal Health Services in the region. We are so grateful for our time there, to learn and support our clients wherever we can. ❤️💛🖤

As you know, we don’t mind a bit of a bin dive around these parts! 😀 And one of our biggest waste items at events are the dreaded coffee cups, but we would never deny our clients a cup of delicious Melbourne coffee at our events!
Enter @simplycups.australia, an incredible organisation we have partnered with, who aims to tackle one of the most significant waste challenges—recycling coffee cups.
🗑️Our Commitment to Sustainability
At each of our events, you'll find dedicated recycling stations that make it easy for attendees to dispose of their coffee cups responsibly. We go the extra mile by conducting "bin dives" to ensure that all coffee cups are correctly sorted and sent to Simply Cups for recycling. There’s nothing we won’t do to avoid one extra coffee cup going in to landfill!
♻️ Why Recycle Coffee Cups?
One of the major obstacles in recycling coffee cups is the waterproof lining, which cannot be processed through traditional recycling methods (don’t get us even started on the coffee cup lids…but that’s another post 😉). When reusable solutions such as @greenmyplate are not able to be used, by partnering with Simply Cups, we can ensure these disposable cups don't end up in landfills but are instead transformed into valuable new products like @staytray to carry new coffees in. Cheers to that!

Last week we had the pleasure of attending an incredible evening hosted by City of Melbourne and part of the Melbourne Conversations series.
We walked away feeling completely inspired after listening our local City Food Heroes; people leading change in our food systems, and rescue, minimising inexcusable waste and exploring the transformative potential of collective action.
