Welcome to my world, this is my short story;
It begins nearly twenty years ago in Pretoria, South Africa, where I started working as a waiter and soon fell in love with the Cocktail & Flair side of bartending and by 2002 I had entered and won my first competition. I worked hard, had the pleasure of being head bartender in 80% of the bars ive worked since 1997 and I entered endless competitions to
test myself against the best in my field. In 2004 and 2005 I was the first bartender to win both a national Flair and a national Mixology championship and now hold five of each title in South Africa. I’ve achieved world ranking in Flair and Mixology and national titles in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia. And was crowned National Flair Champion in Australia three years in a row and winning the last 12 competitions in Australia making me undefeated in 5 years. Over the years, I performed Flair and Fire shows in 18 countries at over 800 events, developed over 50 menus, hundreds of recipes, appeared in high profile promotions, and served some of the very rich and famous. I established the London Flair Club in 2008 and quickly rose from top 30 in the UK top 10 in the world finals of Roadhouse. Arriving in 2011 over the pond, the Melbourne Flair Club was born to create free social club to ‘Raise the Bar’ in the world of Flair in Australia for those who also felt the thrill and the desire to succeed in the art. Today we have had over 300 people come through our doors and a mix of 12 nationalities. MFC has become a welcoming ground for any new bartenders arriving on our shores who needs a guiding hand and bottle into the Melbourne hospitality industry.
