Last burn pile before fire season starts as we finish off our prep to secure the farm.
Gotta love a day where all you have to do to entertain the kids is let them watch things burn and heavy machinery doing it’s thing.

The cattle are in their re-fenced paddock, the snake approved long grass has been removed, and the apple trees are starting to blossom - life is good.

With only some of the stone fruit and almonds left ripening on the trees, harvest season is done for another year. Now we get back to fencing, herd moving, and shearing shed renovations.

Our donut board was used at a family wedding this past weekend and it was an absolute hit! The happy couple simply ordered 60 delicious carb and sugar rings from a local bakery for less than $100 and everyone loved it - including our cheeky toddler who snuck in whilst it was being set up!

When we say our walls are full of history we mean it in every sense of the word -
This 1918 Medallion was given out to Victorian school children to commemorate WW1 and somehow ended up in the wall between our dining and living room. It was found caked in mud and rust whilst a new opening was being put into walls framed up in around 1921!!
Restoration work done by and now another family heirloom as we continue our story at

The potato harvest has begun! We planted 10kg of seedling potatoes we got for $5 from the local IGA back at the start of October and now we are set for the summer - salad, baked, fried, chipped, mashed, squashed… ah the options are endless!! ✌🏼

39 little baby trees of four native gum varieties now line our curvy driveway. If you squint (or zoom in) you can just make out their little guarded defences. Give us 20 years and you will be able to drive down in shaded, scenic comfort!

While we wait for the delivery of Andrew’s new toy, sorry, ride on, we set to work planting 10kg of potatoes.
The rich volcanic soil will hopefully give us a healthy harvest of delicious carbs to feast on 🫶🏼

These open shelves in the farmhouse kitchen are perfectly practical for now but always oh so messy to look at.

Solution: a quick trip to Tarrington Antique & Collectibles for some vintage tea towels and Bunnings for some curtain wire and hooks.
The end result has us dreaming of what else we can do with vintage linens 😍

One year ago today we got the keys to our amazing escape.
The man and the land have got a bit woolier (still waiting on delivery of our ride-on) but our love of the place grows with every new discovery.

A year ago our little house sat empty and this wood fire wasn’t working.
This weekend we took it out and started discovering the history behind the plasterboard and carpet.
Now excuse us while we sneeze demo dust for the rest of the week…

We had our first event in the shearing shed that will one day soon be open for all your special days too. It was magical and makes the work needed ahead so worth it to be able to share the place that makes us happy!

It’s a very exciting day here at the Homestead as our shed gets its name brought back to life. Great Grandpa, who in his early years was a sign writer, is showing us how the pro’s get it done!

With our first wedding booked in for less than 12 months time, we officially started converting our old shearing shed into an event space.
From the day we walked onto this land we could see what it could become and now it’s time to make it happen for a very special couple.

It’s almost picking season in our little corner of the world. Once this season is over we will get to see what we have, do some overdue pruning, and dream up ideas on how to use it all.

In it’s day, Wareo’s orchard had over 111 trees and 17 varieties of apple. The years and seasons haven’t been kind to all the land but we planted our first contribution as we start to bring this place back to life and love
