Thank you Sarah Gulley for such a lovely review:

“Thank you Llynda for such a moving ceremony. I would very much like to recommend Llynda Nairn as a celebrant for any occasion. We recently had a wedding that included a Hand Fasting. Although Llynda had not done this before you would not have known she researched it and included our input which came together better than we could have hoped. Llynda’s approach was very thoughtful and inclusive of our wishes we very happy to have had her officiate on the day.”

Celebrants are always advised when there are changes to the Marriage Act.

Yesterday there were a few changes made to the Marriage Act. The two most significant changes are: Remote Witnessing and Separate Meetings.

Remote witnessing
The Marriage Act will be amended to permanently provide couples with the option to have their Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) witnessed remotely, via audio-visual link, as well as in person.
NOTE: The requirements for authorised witnesses will remain unchanged and location-dependent. If the couple is in Australia then the person remotely witnessing the NOIM (which can include an authorised celebrant) must also be in Australia. If the couple is outside Australia, the authorised witness (which cannot be a celebrant) must also be outside Australia. To be clear, you cannot witness online a NOIM for a person or couple outside Australia.

Separate Meetings
The Marriage Act will require an authorised celebrant to meet separately and in person with each party to the marriage before the marriage is solemnised. The purpose of the meeting is to ensure that each party is freely and voluntarily consenting to the marriage.
A separate meeting needs to occur in the absence of the other party to the marriage and in a culturally safe environment – but this does not mean you need to meet alone with a party. Other persons can attend with the party’s permission.
The timing of the separate meetings is at the discretion of the celebrant and the couple. It can occur at any time up to and including the day of the marriage, providing it occurs before the marriage is solemnised. Additional guidance material will be provided to assist you to meet these requirements.

🍽️ Last night I attended the Cessnock Rotary Club changeover dinner at Cessnock Leagues Club.

⭐️ Cessnock has many incredibly hard working and generous people looking out for others less fortunate, and it was a pleasure to be there to welcome in the new Cessnock Rotary committee. Many of their supporters and sponsors were there too, including Mayor Jay Suvaal.

📚Pictured below are three young people from Cessnock High who are learning about Rotary by joining the Interact Club.

⭐️Mayghan, ⭐️Liam, and ⭐️Domonic are seen here chatting with Annette D’Adam and Professor Hasham Duranni.

I’ve created my 3 entries for the Incognito Art Show.
It’s a wonderful initiative where artists produce work for sale in a massive group exhibition in Sydney but nobody knows who painted what! Every piece is $100 no matter who painted it!

All the money raised goes to charity and this year, the art show is supporting and who do incredible work raising the profile and careers of artists with intellectual disability.

💭 There’s so much to think about once you’ve set a date for your wedding.

🙌 It’s important to book your celebrant. The wedding ceremony is the most important part of your special day whether it’s a small and intimate event, legals only elopement, or a huge event with all the bells and whistles!

💫 I’m a member of a few Facebook groups for Civil Celebrants. At the moment there’s a few conversations about the need to give at least one month’s notice of the date of your marriage, to a Celebrant, by filling out a form ‘Notice of intended marriage’.

😯😯It seems that many couples don’t realise that it is a legal requirement to offer one months notice. And … If a marriage does not take place within 18months of lodging the form with a Celebrant, then a new Notice of intended marriage needs to be lodged.

🤦🏻‍♀️The associated problems of rescheduling with venues, changing travel plans, or going through the process of requesting a ‘shortening of time’ through the Attorney General’s department can all be avoided when people speak first with an Authorised Celebrant.

🙋🏻‍♀️We are here to help, and getting a celebrant involved from the start is good planning, whether it’s a wedding, a vow renewal, a naming ceremony or any other milestone event.

⚖️ If it’s a wedding you’re planning … remember that there’s legal components to consider.

☀️ Pic below, shows a family celebrating with a vow renewal for the couples 11th wedding anniversary, and a naming ceremony for each of their children. Thanks Jess and Matt for the pic.

UPDATE:
Thank you Jess for a lovely recommendation.
“Llynda was nothing short of amazing, She may be new to the industry but you would think that she had been preforming ceremonies for years, Not only was Llynda thorough she also was attentive with a number of changes that I wanted to make and made sure to double check all details leading up to the day.
On the day Llynda made sure the whole ceremony side of things ran effectively and smoothly. Personalising and taking time to ask question to customise the service for my family.
I will recommend Llynda to anyone and everyone she is nothing short of amazing definitely a very satisfied customer.

Thank you again Llynda I hope your name gets out and you get recognised for the amazing job that you do.”

Yesterday’s Ceremony on Merewether Beach was an absolute joy. It was vow renewal, and naming ceremony for each of the couples children, with family and friends in attendance. The rain held off and the breeze was gentle, making it a perfect afternoon.

Hello 😀 I’m a local Celebrant, based in Millfield.

🌸 Planning a wedding? Don't forget about the legal side of things! 📜🖋️

💃🕺As you dive into the exciting world of wedding planning, it's essential to remember the importance of the legal aspects.

😊One crucial person to have on your team is a trusted celebrant, who will guide you through the necessary paperwork and ensure your marriage is legally recognised.

🙌 I can help you with the legal requirements for marriage, such as lodging the ‘Notice of Intended Marriage’ . I will ensure that all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed, giving you peace of mind on your special day.

🌺 I can help you personalise your ceremony, making it a reflection of your unique love story. I will work closely with you to create a meaningful and memorable ceremony.

🙋🏻‍♀️Your celebrant must understand your vision and attend to the legalities to ensure your marriage is officially recognised. This way, you can focus on celebrating your love and creating beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. ❤️

🤷🏻‍♀️I’ve been asked why a couple might want to renew their vows.

🥂There are many reasons … and here’s a few.

🌼 🌼 A couple may want to celebrate a milestone anniversary with a meaningful ceremony where they renew their original vows, or create new vows of committment.

🌺🌺 They may not have had a reception with family and friends, and want to celebrate their marriage with the trimmings that they could not afford when first married.

🧡🧡 Perhaps a couple has experienced difficulties in their marriage and want to express their love and commitment into the future, with a new beginning.

👩‍👧‍👧👨‍👦🎉 Some would like to include their children in a celebration that affirms their committment to each other.

A vow renewal is an opportunity to celebrate what’s most meaningful in our lives.

🙋🏻‍♀️I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and New Year Holiday season, and I wish you all the best in 2024. 🌼I’...

🙋🏻‍♀️I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and New Year Holiday season, and I wish you all the best in 2024.

🌼I’m kickstarting 2024 with a vow-renewal combined with a naming ceremony for each of the couples three children.

👩‍👧‍👧👨‍👦I’m enjoying the challenge of creating a script that tells their story, and doing some research on the meanings of each of the children’s names.

🙏 I’ve discovered that there is a remarkable alignment between the meaning of the children’s names, and their parents’ description of their children’s personalities and talents.

❤️I love having the opportunity to help people create such very special memories. It’s why I chose to become a Celebrant. If you’re planning a wedding, or any other milestone event you’re welcome to call me, obligation free.

🌸🤵👰🌺 Sharing some thoughts as a newly appointed authorised marriage celebrant.

🌺👰🤵🌸 Spring is in full swing, and it's an exciting time for wedding celebrants like me! Seeing my fellow celebrants busy and passionately helping couples achieve their dream ceremonies brings me so much joy.

💍✨ As I prepare for my very first wedding in October, I can't help but feel a mix of anticipation and excitement. The thrill of being part of such a momentous occasion is truly indescribable. But you know what? It's not just weddings that make my heart skip a beat.

🎉💑 I often wonder who will reach out to me—will it be a couple renewing their vows, celebrating the love that has stood the test of time? Or perhaps it will be a family embracing the arrival of a baby, seeking a heartfelt baby-naming ceremony.

🌸💕 But it's the thought of being there for those going through a difficult time that fills me with gratitude. To be able to offer support, and help grieving families by officiating a funeral ceremony is an honour I don't take lightly.

💔🌹 Being a celebrant means being there for people during some of the most significant events in their lives. It's a role that allows me to make a positive impact and create meaningful memories for those I serve. And for that, I'm truly grateful.

🙏❤️ So, as I prepare to officiate at my upcoming wedding in October and look forward to another booking in November 2024, I send my warmest wishes to all the busy celebrants out there. Keep spreading love, joy, and making a difference in people's lives. Cheers to love and new beginnings!
