It is with gratitude that The Lock-Up shares the news of the departure of Dr Warwick Heywood as The Lock-Up Cultural Manager and Director who has accepted an exciting new opportunity interstate.
Since 2023, Warwick has guided The Lock-Up, one of Australia's leading independent contemporary art organisations and in that time he has contributed substantially its creative impact and ongoing sustainability.
His key achievements have included securing additional multiyear funding for TLU from Creative Australia through the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy (VACS); developing Collect Focus: a dedicated platform to empower emerging regionally-based artists; bolstering the Artists in Residence program and facilitating research and production opportunities for over 24 resident creatives; presenting more than 12 exhibitions of contemporary practice including several major commissions; and finally, supporting over 350 artists and creatives through the broader TLU artistic program, solidifying TLU’s role as a vital hub for contemporary art both regionally and nationally.
Warwick's commitment to The Lock-Up community, across volunteer and Patrons engagement through to platforming artists and social issues via an impactful artistic program, has been outstanding and The Lock-Up is deeply thankful for his tenure.
Stay tuned for exciting announcements about our TLU team!
