Ravella is perched on the upper end of Watt Street, Newcastle, a street that’s home to some of the most iconic architecture in the city.

In the 1950s, the street quickly became the main artery to the city, and was known for its leading hotels, theatres, and stores.

Today you’ll see a cityscape where heritage meets the modern age. Centuries of history, and a vibrant future.

As the oldest street in town, Watt Street is an iconic part of Newcastle’s history.

It’s story goes far beyond European settlement when it was originally used as a track by the Awabakal people to move from the water to the top of the sandy hill.

Years later in the 1800s, it became ‘Watt St’ named after James Watt, a steam engine pioneer.

Before long, the street became an integral component of town - home to hospitals, government offices, schools, and commercial buildings.

Today, it is a vibrant mix of old and new. Still a gateway to the sea, and the backdrop to Newcastle’s most beautiful heritage listed buildings, including our very own Ravella.

There’s a new couple in town.

We’re thrilled to announce that Newcastle favourite, Alfie’s, will be the exclusive in-house caterer for all weddings and events at Ravella.

Under the helm of Head Chef Rafael Tonon, Alfie’s catering will offer a range of packages to suit any event.

Alfie’s has quickly made its way in to the hearts of locals, so we are very excited for you to be able to enjoy the impeccable dining experience they are known for, right here under Ravella’s roof.
