1V1 came out of a number of places, I am a high school teacher. I have spent the last few years looking at keeping students engaged in class and at break times to avoid negative behaviours. I fondly tell people of my own time at highschool where I played tennis ball soccer. Before school, at recess, at lunch any free time. We played on a small patch of grass with whoever would join in on equal teams. Simple goals made of the space between a brick bbq and star picket at one end and a wall near a drinking fountain at the other. For about 5 years this is where I spent my time with friends, getting fit, learning teamwork, burning teenage energy, developing soccer skills and tricks and competing. Also destroying a fair number of black leather school shoes in the process. We finished out the year winning the PSA soccer cup in our final Year 12. Five of our regular 6 players all playing in the victorious team…I believe it’s from spending so much time playing together and against each other.
Popular in Europe, a “Panna” (Surinam Togo word for gate) is the name given to the move of manipulating the ball through your opponents legs. In Australia this is call a “Nutmeg” or a “Meggs”
