To allow photos during the ceremony or not? That is the question. Most of the weddings I do are unplugged. And we ask family and friends to be present. Who are the worst offenders? I definitely agree with this article. It's usually the older guests. I've even had a mother of the groom block the groom's view of the bride walking down the aisle, because she stood in the middle of the aisle to take video footage using her iPad!

I was not expecting to be doing a wedding at Cleveland Estate yesterday. But, when a celebrant friend is too unwell to perform the ceremony she’d spent months preparing, it’s time to step in and do everything to make the wedding as special as possible for the couple and their guests.

Luckily, celebrants are trained and prepared for when these situations arise. The paperwork and ceremony was easily transferred and the other celebrant shared any other important details with me.

With all of the legalities sorted, my next priority was to meet the couple and reassure them that, although I was not their first preference, I would respect and carry out their ceremony plans to the best of my ability. What followed was a beautiful ceremony, with lots of joy, laughter and so much to celebrate.

Thank you to the celebrant for trusting me with this very special role. And, thank you to V&C for being such good sports. It was a beautiful ceremony and I feel blessed to have been part of your day.
