🖼️ EXHIBITION OPENING:
Herbert Herring – Holding Ground
Opening night: Friday 13 June, 5–7pm
📍Soggy Brolly, 20 Orr Street, Queenstown
You’re warmly invited to the opening of Holding Ground, a new exhibition by Queenstown’s own Herbert Herring – a miner, track builder, and artist whose life and work are deeply rooted in Tasmania’s wild places.
Herb’s paintings and pen and ink drawings honour the stubborn beauty of native species, the resilience of trees twisted by time and weather, and the quiet threat posed by invasive plants. This is work that bears witness to what’s been lost, and what still holds its ground.
Many locals know Herb best for his airbrushed miner’s helmets, which have become cherished keepsakes in mining communities around the world. We’ll be showing a few alongside his paintings and drawings.
🎂 And this one’s extra special — it also marks Herb’s 80th birthday! Join us in celebrating the art and life of a remarkable West Coaster.
Exhibition runs: 13 June – 11 July 2025
🕔 Opening night: Friday 13 June, 5–7pm
