For older kids, I suggest actually making your own wand. Pick some flowers from the wooden bowl and add them to your stick. It's just another beautiful layer for a magical party experience. This is an awesome activity if you are hosting in a park with gardens around so the kids can pick their own fresh flowers and greenery.

With the warmer weather, waterplay can be so much fun.
I cut up a pink towel into smaller pieces to roll them up for the for all the dolls. We used our ice buckets as the pool, and we added non-toxic bath bombs and dried flowers for a glorious day spa.
Kids absolutely loved it!

Have you ever wondered where birthday cakes come from?
So, apparently, the tradition dates back to ancient Egyptians celebrating Pharaohs' coronations as their “birth” into godhood. 🩷 I found that interesting and a bit morbid.
Greeks later made moon-shaped cakes for Artemis, the moon goddess, adding candles for a glowing effect. 🌙🕯️🩷That sounds just like a goddess idea, don't you think?
In 18th century Germany, “Kinderfeste” saw kids' birthdays marked with cakes and candles for each year, plus one for good luck. 🩷Another tradition that comes from Germany! These guys must have been on a role for creating tradition after tradition (Father Christmas).
Today, birthday cakes symbolize joy, wishes, and traditions worldwide!
Now you know why we have to have cake! Is this a good enough reason?

When my children's birthdays come around, we watch baby videos to remind us all how tiny they were. Watching my daughter's just recently it was a very good reminder why I created plastic free parties in the first place. I grinched when I saw her happily putting some plastic toy in her mouth. 9 years ago, I was not aware of how bad microplastics were for us. However, I have learned since then.
While I strive to be as eco-friendly as possible, some items do come in plastic packaging. I am totally transparent here. It's really hard to avoid, unfortunately. I believe in second-hand shopping and reusing items as many times as possible!

The kindness of words!
Last weekend, at my daughter's party, I played "Get to know each other" as we had a couple of ballet friends who did not know school friends. So I suggested saying their name, their favourite colour and animal they love. When it was time to come around to Amber's ballet friend Zara, this gorgeous human being said that "She likes purple, a penguin is her favourite animal, and her favourite thing is AMBER". I almost burst into tears of hearing this!! 💜
