Come pick some sunflowers 🌻 this Saturday Yabbaloumba Retreat and support some great causes! 9am - 1pm

After many questions as to when we are OPEN to the public again.. We are going to OPEN THIS SATURDAY 3rd FEB from 9.00am - 1.00pm. There will be 2 DONATION BUCKETS. $2 a stem! One for Cancer Council Queensland to donate to cancer research OR
And or One for Rafa Nielser a local Sunshine Coast boy who was in an accident in January that left him with damage to parts of his brain, use of the right side of his body and speech. He will need extensive full-time rehabilitation for a period of 12 months in Brisbane.

We will have a marquee set up to take donations, bring your water bottles and wear sunscreen and stroll our fields and pick sunflowers! A great family morning out supporting good causes! πŸ“Έ Taylor Coooper

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! πŸŽ„

The year flew by, this little guy turned 5 and started prep so we had to figure out a whole new routine around school and sporting commitments (soccer, auskick, rugby, swimming & nippers).

This meant our work focus shifted to being behind the scenes and being present at clients events and we fell way behind in social updates! But we are still here!

Thankyou to all our suppliers that we work alongside or supply us to make our packages happen throughout the year. And a very big shout out to those suppliers who came and support our open day in early December.

Our website refresh is now complete, you can now download the yabbaloumba brochure, book tours and schedule phone meetings!
We have also added a new section for our experience clients that we hope enhances your journey with us.

In our work team this year, we welcomed Danielle, who took on stock and organising orders which has been a huge help to myself and Maddi as we had a huge increase in midweek weddings this year. We also welcomed Amy & Bec as part of our regular bar team heading into 2024.

Corey and I have spent the last 12 months quietly working away on in-house menus for our clients and the new menus are ready to go for 2024-2025.

This year we are doing something a little different and pushed back our summer vacay til the end of January, so we will available most Saturdays over summer for appointments and viewings. Including Saturday 30th December!

We want to thank all our couples who trusted us to celebrate their day with in 2023 and we can’t wait to do it again in 2024, as always with an aim to deliver authentic country wedding experiences.

We are off to enjoy the Sunshine and a few surf πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ lessons over the new year period. πŸ₯‚ Wishing you all a happy and safe festive season. πŸŽ„ πŸŽ… πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ πŸ–οΈ πŸ₯‚ πŸͺ© πŸŽ„

Dashing through the bush, In a rusty Holden Ute, Kicking up the dust, Esky in the boot πŸŽ„ literally 😝 πŸ”” 🍸 πŸŽ„

We did try a confetti shot with just me but it was a little odd, so threw in this kid to capture the real Christmas spirit πŸŽ…πŸŽ„.

2022 where to start - it obviously rained a lot, so shout out to every bride who remained calm, even as roads were closed and access was looking sketchy. It somehow always panned out, perhaps a little wetter than we all envisioned but gosh the misty mountains in your photos look pretty.

Like most hospitality businesses the struggle was . We borrowed staff for bigger events and in return we helped out other hospo businesses with events if we weren’t busy. We somehow made it through to August before we found more staff. Maddi and Trav did the bulk of the closing shifts this year (thanks guys). And we are happy to be walking out of 2022 with a team of 10.

To our experience clients, Thankyou for trusting us to create space for you and the event you imagined, it brought us so much joy to see how happy you were on your special day - Trusting someone with your day is hard and I acknowledge that as I don’t run around with a note pad and excel spreadsheet or stress over stuff other people tell you that you should be stressed by and I pretty much just tell you β€œit’s fine” that it is a little daunting. (On that note πŸ“ y’all feel free to drop us a google review over summer 🫣πŸ€ͺ) .

Last year we learnt that you wanted to see more about us as a team, we managed to go 7 or so years with 1 team photo πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. So we hope you enjoyed the individual profile posts this year. Most of us feel way more comfortable behind the scenes and letting you guys shine through on our page with all the details of your weddings.

To end on a high, there are so many it’s hard to choose! I think for me this year, it’s the support we received from vendors, it was meeting all our couples families and hearing their stories and the little DMs/emails we receive post wedding from your guests who attended and the general influx of new couples who have come through for 2024 and choose us because of your recommendations .

Now, I’m off to sip cocktails 🍸 by the pool before we do it all again in 2023. ✌️

Merry Christmas x πŸŽ„

We encourage any small business and people affected by these restrictions to contact their local member of parliament. We arnt asking for much just equal rights to trade and move forward.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
Dear Ms Palaszczuk,

It’s January 14, 2022 and I didn’t want to have to write you another letter, but here we are. I have been quietly writing letters to my local member for Nicklin on the Sunshine Coast since mid December but I’ve had zero response to date.

Yesterday you released your 90% plan for Queensland; the one that small business in particular hospitality venues and creatives have been clinging to hope, waiting for you to release, waiting for you to have a plan.

You fell short of delivering any plan, all you have done is announce your taking down your border walls, but what is your plan and roadmap to recovery for small business to trade?

Without rehashing a letter I sent in August, the last 2 years venues and creatives have been hit hard by every lockdown and restrictions brought in.

From December 18, if a couple chooses to have 1 unvaccinated person at their wedding their guest list drops to 20 guests. Yet 50 unvaccinated people can go to a gym, their local shopping mall and gather in a park or private residence.

Not releasing a plan for us is pushing clients to alternate loopholes of hiring airbnb properties which really are unregulated and there is no accountability should someone host an event there or in their own backyard. Yet businesses like mine are expected to be Covid-19 compliant (which costs a lot of time and money) and we still have been stripped of our rights to trade fairly.

I'm currently losing thousands of dollars a day of turnover for every day that goes by with no plan released.

Right now I should be enjoying my summer holidays with my family in NSW and come back confidently knowing I worked really hard to a sell out my 2022 events calendar, but instead I’ve been sitting here calming down distressed clients, asking them to wait for a plan that today didn't come. And if I can't convince them to wait, I'm forced to refund their event which is looking like another 12 weeks of lost turnover all because there is no fair and reasonable plan for us to trade.

NSW and VIC released a clear plan ahead of time, how long is the Queensland Government going to punish small businesses - in particular creative businesses for a small percentage of the population that isn't vaccinated.

Surely you can expand on the 90% plan and at least come back with reasonable conditions, such as mask wearing, 4sqm rule, temperature checking and rapid antigen testing?

I have sat tight and followed the rules, kept my child at home because I’m β€œnon-essential”. And kept my business viable for almost 2 years.

Not only am I now faced with no direction for 2022, did you know childcare centres are now warning families that if you can work from home, your child doesn’t really need to be in childcare and you need to justify your hours worked to send them when the peak hits?

This is just another example of how the rules are going to affect small business owners and impact their children's right to education, because daycare centres can’t get enough staff. So non-essential small business owners are expected to now carry the burden of another problem your government has created.

At this point we need a plan to work with, we need to know what's coming for our industry that's deemed non-essential, we need to know that as business owners we are going to be treated as equally as a school teacher, nurse, builder & electrician. Because for the past 22 months we have not been treated equally in our ability to trade.

Regards,
