As our beautiful holiday draws to an end (posts not over yet), and the 2024, I'd just like to take a moment to thank you for coming along on our journey this year and being part of The Good Farm Shop. We are a young business with (fingers crossed) so much more ahead of us in 2025 and beyond. But none of it would be possible without you guys. Not just the customers but the people out there who take the time to comment and DM us. It's getting harder and harder to reply to all of you, in fact, it's impossible, but I really do try!!

Have a great last few days of 2024. 2025 is around the corner and I wish the best for you and your endeavours.

P.s. we will be back in the kitchen on the 2nd with all orders that have come in over Christmas heading off to you then! So if you've been waiting for us return to put your orders in... don't wait, go for itπŸ’š

We've only just come up for air. A year ago we were in struggle town with both kids so little and so close in age. And building our business. I remember crying in the car in a public car park and someone knocking on the window to ask if I was okay. All I could manage to say between sobs was "I've got small kids". Thankfully they got it. There were times when I felt I was going out of my mind. Parenting is so much harder than you ever expect it to be. The love is insane and profound, but the work is relentless. There's no shortcut.

But it does get easier. They learn to communicate, they play together, you get more and more moments to yourself, to recalibrate, before they need you again.

Anyway, sending love to whoever needs it. X

No it's not fair that good ethical produce costs more. But there is a way to bring down the prices and it involves the consumer. The consumer holds the power. So until we start demanding that our supermarkets start sourcing produce that prioritise land ecology, animal welfare and human health, they simply won't.

Luckily there are fabulous farm to doorstop online shops that connect consumers to produce that does support these things. All you have to do is start investigating. We can all turn a blind eye, or we can do our very small part and support those farmers who are doing right by the land, the animal and our health.

I hate the fear mongering side of social media... but it is what it is. The difference between supporting large scale agriculture and small scale regenerative agriculture is HUGE.

It the reason we don't compromise. πŸ’š

"Agriculture" is a boring word to most, but without it we would not have food on our plate so it's actually worth paying attention to. This part of our business is the part we're most proud of, but it's also the hardest to explain to people because "regenerative agriculture" sounds really unglamorous. (I can see you all scrolling past this post already πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚) BUT... soil health and a thriving ecosystem is actually super sexy. It's the reason we exist!! Without it, we'd quite literally be fuc*ed. So as boring as it sounds... there's a really good reason to understand the benefits of regenerative agriculture, and do our best to support farmers who care about leaving their land better than how they found it. πŸ’šπŸŒ»πŸŒ³

A few of my favourite pics from our cookbook. To be honest it's really hard to pick favourites. This book is beyond what I imagined it would be. Thanks to and her beautiful eye as a photographer.

We didn't know Cath when she arrived at our farm early one Winter's morning in 2023. She came recommended from our publishers, and we had to hope that welcoming a stranger into our home to snap photos of us, would not back fire.

From the moment Cath rolled up to the farm, through the morning mist, dressed like a farm girl herself (she'd just come from her little regen farm a few hours south) we felt at ease.

For a whole day and all the next morning, we wandered around, doing what we'd usually do on a day on the farm. The kids played, we cooked, ate, roamed, and all the while Cath clicked away, capturing lovely little candid moments. We chatted away, getting to know each other, and later that night after dinner, Scott and I concurred that our publishers were right. Cath was perfect for the job.

We shot for another two days at our home in the northern beaches of Sydney, and another 5 days at Cath’s studio - capturing all the food components.

The photos are warm and inviting and truly represent our family and our way of cooking. Simple and easy recipes with flavours and ingredients that make your heart sing.

Thank you for your beautiful work. Love ya xx

Every time I see something that makes me laugh, inspires me or moves me on instagram I screenshot it. Here are a bunch I came across in April. (Credits below)

My own little thoughts after asking people yesterday on my stories how they feel about their own health, energy, food habits, quality of life, parenting, etc is how many out there feel exhausted, time poor and overwhelmed. Those were the big ones. But also so many of you said you don't take enough time for yourselves, a bunch said they work in stressful environments which leads to emotional eating, and then there was guilt for not being a good enough parent or feeling like they don't have enough energy for their kids. A few of you also told me you live in chronic pain, and have serious health issues.

Thank you for sharing this with me.

My place on this platform, along with it being a business account, is to (hopefully) remind you that we are all human, all doing our best, with whatever knowledge and funds we have at our disposal. So, give yourselves a break. Don't compare yourselves to others. Meet yourself where you are and move forward with compassion and consistency. You are on the right path. πŸ’š

Can I make one suggestion to those who said they were exhausted and had no time for themselves... perhaps take a moment before May rolls in to schedule in some time just πŸ‘πŸΌforπŸ‘πŸΌyouπŸ‘πŸΌ. We are all better humans when we give ourselves permission to take πŸ‘πŸΌcareπŸ‘πŸΌ of πŸ‘πŸΌourselves. Here's your homework: if you can't make time every single day to do something for you, schedule it in for once a week. Have that dinner with your friend. Book that baby sitter and go out with hubby/wifey. Get that massage. Take that nature walk. Finish that book in the sun. But schedule it in or you won't do it. Xx

No one sees these because Instagram doesn't favour the good old post anymore. Has to be a reel to be seen. BUT... it was time for a Google Review dump so here they are!

LOVE LETTERS!!! πŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’™β€οΈ
Every month or so I collect all the latest reviews from our Google my business page and do a little review drop here. Incredibly, we have 60 reviews now, and 60 of those are five stars! (This is turning into an Oscar's speech, someone start the music!). But seriously folks, these little love notes are always read by us and we don't take for granted the time people take to leave one. Especially as every where you go these days you get asked to review your experience.

I'd like to thank my... JOKES. I'm done.

Thanks 😊 Love ya's ###

My instagram connected to this account has been hacked. I am trying to get control back. I can't access it and can't reset the password to get back into my account, it just gets sent to the assh*le who hacked it. Please watch out for any strange posts that may not be me.

More beautiful love letters from our customers. πŸ’•Thank you again to those who leave reviews. We love reading them! As a thank you, if you have left a review on Google or the Shop app, please send me a DM and let me know and I will send you back a code with a little discount code to say thank you. It takes time to do those things and I know how many emails you get sent asking for reviews from other businesses (I get them too) so please let us show our appreciation. πŸ’šπŸ™πŸ»

Just gotta cheer this guy on. He's been leaving the house before light and getting home after the kids go to sleep, on repeat. Somehow he manages to still fit in a load of washing upon returning. But that's what you do when you have a bidding business right? You put in the hard yards, you work around the clock. Anyone who has built a business will know that there's no shortcut. Still, he looked defeated today when I went in to visit him with the kids. So I feel like he needs a post dedicated to cheering him on. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌGo babe! You're awesome. I love you. And don't worry about dinner, I've got it sorted - Steak and Kidney Pie thawing on the counter. 😁🀭πŸ₯°

"Loved every meal on the keto plan.
Felt so full and nourished after every meal. I just added some vegetables on the side.
The green broth had an acquired taste at first, once I got use to the taste it was like receiving a warm hug. As a nurse coming home from work late at night I would have the broth before bed. I noticed on the nights I did this I would have a great sleep.
Picture of when I could not wait for lunch so had Massaman curry for breakfast 😊"
