🥳 Creating VIBES 🥳 at a kids birthday party, for kids and adults 😂
🦸♂️ At this time of recording, the kids entertainer @superheroes_inc just finished 1 hour of entertaining the kids (and getting adults involved, entertained and amused 😂).
🥪 If the adults and parents weren’t watching Mario running around with the kids, the adults had a chance to eat and mingle with other adults at the same time.
☕️ The coffee cart @thecoffeecountersydney was a 🌟 BIG HIT 🌟 for adults, as they had their (several) shots of caffeine for the day, whether it be iced coffee, hot coffee, and even babycino’s for the young kids.
And here I was, overlooking the entire space to determine when it is best to smoothly move on to getting the cake cut 🎂.

That exciting feeling of being engaged has passed 😅. Now what? 🤔
Wedding planning sounds like a hike on the mountains - there is a lot of involvement and organising that takes place for the wedding itself to happen!
And planning for your wedding can be extremely overwhelming, especially when you have no idea where to start. 😵💫
First of all … it is NOT a race 🙅🏻♀️
There is no rush to get married (generally).
But I will tell you 3 things to do after you are engaged:
1️⃣ Have a wedding discussion with your partner.
Communication is so important from the very beginning, to make sure that you are both on the same page. Otherwise, there can be arguments and confusion in the future.
Things to talk about include: your wedding budget, your bridal party, what you want (and don’t want), inspiration, and deciding on a wedding date. (There is a lot of brainstorming in this discussion, so definitely make it a date 🍷)
2️⃣ Pick a date.
Recent data has found this is not as important anymore and that wedding couples are flexible with dates.
However, I personally find this important earlier on because when you are booking with your vendors, the FIRST thing they will ask is: “what date is your wedding?”. Vendors cannot commit if you don’t have a date booked because they themselves already have dates booked in advance for other weddings and events. So vendors can’t confirm with you if they are available or not when you don’t have a wedding date!
3️⃣ Book a venue.
Number 2 also applies to venues. And venues get booked out far in advance! (Especially if you are looking for a weekend wedding).
So I recommend inspecting your very shortlisted venues and book as soon as you make a decision on your venue(s).

👀 MARIO KART FAVOUR BOX IDEA 💡
If you have played (and/or love Mario Kart), you will get the reference!
This is all based on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
These favour boxes revolved around the item boxes that get picked up during the Mario Kart race. When you pick up an item box, you get a randomised item that you use either on yourself (as an advantage), or onto other racers (to slow them down). 😂
Items that you can get as a racer from the item boxes in Mario Kart 8 include:
🔸️ Mushroom (➡️ Makes you drive faster for a few seconds)
🔸️ Red shell (➡️ Thrown to the racer in front of you and stops them in their tracks for a few seconds)
🔸️ Green shell (➡️ Aimlessly moves forward 🙄)
🔸️ Blue shell (➡️ Aims only to the racer coming first and stops them in their tracks for a few seconds)
🔸️ Piranha Plant (➡️ “Bites” racers as you race past them)
🔸️ Flower (➡️ Shoots fireballs to racers)
All these items from item boxes are fondant cookies, and to maintain the theme, each item was randomly put into each item box 😂
Other actual goodies I put in the favour boxes include keyrings and stickers!

👀 How did I come up with the idea of a Mario Kart centrepiece for the kids table? 🤔
To create more of a Mario Kart racing feel (and not Super Mario), I wanted to have a racing track and have characters on the track.
To achieve this, I got
🔸️ 5mm thick foamboards of a windy road by @katrinahskreations
🔸️ Popular characters (from Mario Kart game) printed as cutouts, to stand on vellum (translucent) stands. (The stands were angled 90 degrees from the character to make the character more sturdy to stand!)
The young guests did pick up the characters at times while eating and raced with their other friends on the racing track, so win-win 😂

📖 STORY TIME 📖
Here was our schedule:
🔸️12.15pm - ceremony starts (guests arriving)
🔸️12.20pm - bridesmaids walk down the aisle
🔸️12.30pm - bride walks down the aisle
🔸️12.30-1pm - official ceremony
🔸1-1.30pm - post-ceremony photos
Here was what ACTUALLY happened:
🔸️ Bride and bridesmaids ended up leaving at 12.30pm
🔸️ Bridesmaids and bride walked down the aisle between 12.40-12.45pm, with ceremony starting immediately afterwards
🔸️ Ceremony finished at 1.10pm
Because it started to sprinkle ☁️ (and rain got heavier 🌧), post-ceremony photos finished by 1.20pm (instead of 1.30pm).
The guests flocked very quickly 😂 and Rose Garden space @thewilliaminglis was empty much earlier than expected, with bumping out happening earlier too.
Woop, it went quickly from running behind schedule to ahead of schedule 😂
🌟 So here’s the secret 🤫👉 I spaced out our wedding schedule. 🌟
In this bridal couple’s case, I spaced it out a LOT more because:
🔸️ My bride, bridesmaids, flowergirls (with their mums) and photo+video team @clarrzique had to move from their suite at William Inglis (Level 8?), with 2 sets of lifts down to ground level, then take a secret passage (away from guests) via another event space and into the barn behind Rose Garden.
🔸️ We went into the barn, where extra timing was needed between me and celebrant @jakbts to make sure everyone was ready
🔸️ We had to open heavy doors of the barn space throughout the bridal entrance walk (not just once either), which takes longer too. ✌️

Venue tour! THE EVELEIGH📍The Grounds of South Eveleigh.
This space seats 200-340 guests (or up to 250-600 for cocktail-style events).
The Eveleigh space was a bit tricky to find at first, but it is located within the old locomotive workshops at South Eveleigh (Redfern). You need to walk inside the building (glass sliding doors) where you can see Romeo IGA at the back, and The Eveleigh space is actually on the right (with tall green curtains to give privacy to this space).
It has:
🔸️Vintage 1920s chandeliers
🔸️High ceilings with riggings which can allow installations (including hanging floral installations).
🔸️Vintage-style bar
🔸️Bridal room (above the bar) with a grand entrance of stairs on the side.
🌟 TIP: You can have a band or a string ensemble at the balcony in front of the bridal room as part of the cocktail hour/canapes before the reception starts. 🎻🎷🎺
This space prouds itself with elegance and opulence. Which is why the Eveleigh is one of my favourite event spaces. 🤩
(Yes yes, I love classic spaces!).

Here’s one of the little things I am fussy over with my events. 🤫
🤫I make sure all table numbers are clearly visible and shown in the direction of guests.🤫
This is so that when guests enter the room, space or venue, they are able to clearly see table numbers while they are looking for the table that they are allocated to sit for a few hours (instead of them awkwardly walking around tables).
It’s not just the angle, but also the size and legibility of the table number which makes a big difference! 😊

It’s been 6 months since I created a 30th birthday for a busy mum! 😍

🎬 BEHIND THE SCENES 🎬 What happened before the cocktail wedding reception started.
It was already planned before the day that @andybowdy was going to arrive a few hours before the rest of us, event pro’s were.
On the day, we had a table near a powerpoint, ready to go - for Andy to arrive and do final touches on the cake, 🎂 before having the cake in the fridge for a few hours ❄️⏰️ (Jesse and I checked with space dimensions beforehand that the cake would have ample space in the fridge).
Mother Nature wasn’t the best on that day 🌬🌬 - it was so windy in one area of El Rey (facing Cronulla beach) that Jesse and I had to resort to our back up option - which was to move the outdoor area of the setup to the other side of the venue (facing Kingsway). This new area was originally where families and guests who are less accessible were going to be, but it turned out to also be where the outdoor area was going to be anyway (think ➡️ merging from 2 outdoor areas to 1 outdoor area for guests to mingle and have air).
We all originally wanted the bifold doors facing Cronulla beach to be open (definitely me too 🙋🏻♀️), however the winds were so strong that florals were flying out from the backdrop (@belle_events_syd 😵💫), and our amazing Cristina @djlavida was shivering! 🥶
After a lot of deliberations with our bridal couple, we had to have the bifold doors closed. Even though it was warm at times (especially when everybody was indoors), we left the bifold door at front wide open, creating a wind tunnel to cool down indoors and guests were able to step out for fresh air if needed.
Aside from Mother Nature! 😅
I arrived about 1.5-2 hours before the celebrations started, with Belle already setting up the beautiful backdrop. 🌸
On arrivals, suppliers called me so that when they parked downstairs, I was already on my way via lift to help move their items and gear upstairs (and of course, give better lift access than taking the
2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣3️⃣ wrapped up! ✊️
I would not have thought where I am now is where I thought I would’ve been if you asked me 12 months ago.
I am so grateful and honoured to be part of my clients’ lives on their special day. 🥳

Did you know I have a classical musical background? 🎹
Brought up in a family with musically-talented siblings, it was expected that I would be going to a musically-focussed school for a few years. It was there where I was exposed a lot more to classical music repertoire, including orchestral and ensemble music, and how it sets a significant music tone to experiences and performances.
I was super excited when Maria said she would like to have a small musical ensemble as the background. 🤩 (It helps when both Maria and I went to the same music school for a little while!)
We had our hearts set on Isabel and Ariel from @zaki_duo. Here, the guests arrived to the Gatsby-inspired music performed by @zaki_duo - they enjoyed some nibbles, sparkling drinks and took some photos together as the sun set behind Oatlands House. After guests entered Rebecca Suite to find their seats, mingled with other guests and had fun at the photobooth, @zaki_duo went by ear and seamlessly moved inside the Rebecca Suite and continued performing until the guests had their mains. The music really amplifies the fun of our birthday party. 🎻🎸
