23 October holds a special significance as it is also Kabuki Syndrome Awareness Day. My son Koh chan was born with Kabuki Syndrome, a very rare condition that affects 1 in 32000 kids, affecting their organs and development from birth. The “K” in K Cafe signifies both “Koh chan” and “Kabuki Syndrome”. We are hoping that by raising awareness it will help more affected kids, as early diagnosis and intervention can make a world of difference.

Happy Vietnamese Women’s Day to all the women in our lives! Today we celebrate the achievements and roles women play in society and in our lives. You are all amazing, showing great intelligence, endurance, strength, and patience, and this we take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for all you do every day.

A special shout out to all these amazing ladies who work damn hard day in day out, waking up early so that your morning coffee is ready to go from 5:30am, often balancing with their family lives.

As many of you are aware, Cafe Dakota changed hands last month. Over the past month, the team has been hard at work to revamp the menu, and we thank you for the overwhelmingly positive response to the sneak peek into the new menu introduced to you through the Chef’s Specials.

We are announcing today that shortly we are going to be rebranding to “K Cafe Flavours of Vietnam” as part of the upcoming launch of the full new menu. Whilst the name and logo will change, the DNA of Cafe Dakota will live on. “Cafe Dakota” was named after the previous owner Terry’s daughter, and “K Cafe” is named after the new owner Amy’s 4 year old son nicknamed “Koh Chan” who was born with a very rare condition called Kabuki Syndrome.

Many of your favourites will continue to form part of the new menu that will feature classic cafe breakfast, brunch, burgers and authentic Vietnamese options, and there’ll be no changes to the coffee menu or quality as we continue to work with Toby’s Estate to provide you with the best damn coffee in the area. Most importantly, you will continue to be served with a smile by the same core staff that have been supporting Cafe Dakota.
