I’m loving how more couples are making small but meaningful tweaks to tradition to reflect what actually matters to them. One I’m seeing more and more is walking down the aisle with both parents (or other significant loved ones/s).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If that’s your plan, here’s a hot tip: make sure your aisle is wide enough! You need a bit of extra space so you can glide down gracefully rather than shuffling down shoulder-to-shoulder like you’re squeezing onto a peak-hour train.

Any good stylist, planner, venue will be all over this, but sometimes a mate is setting up your ceremony or you change plans last minute so make sure you let whoever is responsible for your setup know.

I’ve been a celebrant for over 12 years now. When I started out, I didn’t know what my point of difference was or which parts of my personality couples would connect with. 

Now, after listening to and working with hundreds of couples, I know that my strength is making the quiet ones, the shy types, the introverts, and the ‘not-fans-of-the-limelight’ feel comfortable being celebrated.

It’s so easy to get caught up in what I call “wedding stuff” and forget the reason that you’re actually planning a wedding in the first place. And I get it, “wedding stuff” is fun - it’s pretty and exciting. And it is important. All that “stuff” - the flowers, the setting, the food, the drinks, the dress etc. are what makes your day feel special, unlike any other day of your life. And that’s the point. Enjoy it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But while you’re doing all of that, remember to also plan for, and be very intentional about, how you want your day to feel - the connections you want to make, the people you want to share it with and the new cherished memories you’re going to make.

Put purpose at the forefront of your planning and come your wedding day, you will be rewarded with an incredible experience (as well as lovely photos).

Your wedding day isn’t about me – it’s about you. But I know choosing the right marriage celebrant is a big decision, so here’s a little about me and my style.

It was at my sister’s wedding rehearsal that I had my light-bulb moment. As the celebrant tried to harness the excitement of the group of family and friends smiling and laughing around her, I decided this was something I wanted to do.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hadn’t realised it at the time, but since getting married, and being part of the weddings of family and friends, I had become interested in the idea of ceremony and celebration. I was so inspired by the different ways each couple expressed their personalities through the setting, music, words and rituals they chose. And so I did my study and became an Authorised Commonwealth Civil Celebrant in 2013 and have had the privilege of marrying hundreds of couples ever since.

I’m an inclusive wedding celebrant creating modern, meaningful ceremonies that reflect each of my couples’ values, story and style. I take a calm, collaborative and thoughtful approach to crafting personalised ceremonies that are relaxed and heartfelt - full of warmth, joy and natural humour.

I believe your ceremony should be a true reflection of you and your relationship, and a highlight of your day rather than a mere formality.

I have lived in Sydney all my life and while I think it is the best city in the world, I love to visit the Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands and NSW South Coast for weddings.

When I’m not at a wedding you will find me on my yoga mat, lost in a book, pottering in the garden and spending time with my family. I’m an Aries (if that means anything to you), my love language is food, I’m a coffee person, a cat person, I’ll take the ocean over a pool any day, and yes, my eyes are different colours.

Perfect Autumn weather and a weekend full of weddings making me happy. 🍁

On Friday I visited for the first time and my oh my is this venue a stunner. It’s a restaurant and farm tucked away in the Megalong Valley. Rhiannon and Geoff chose it for its relaxed, warm hospitality. They wanted an amazing experience for their guests that still felt comfortable.

Then yesterday I headed back to the mountains to the gorgeous for Rachel and Mitch’s wedding where I co-presented with their good friend Hannah. They had a morning ceremony followed by lunch out on the lawn to make the most of the view and gardens.

Quick pit-stop at before heading to Oatlands Estate for Elise and Christian. I got to meet Ash from .blom.aska and witness her working her floral magic. Felt like we were in a European garden chalet. So pretty!

Not every weekend is like this, but when they do happen and the weather cooperates and you get to visit pretty places, work with lovely couples and talented vendors it feels pretty damn good. ✨

Posting about weddings feels a bit weird right now. With everything happening in the world - war, weather events, the cost of living crisis, so much uncertainty - celebrating love and joy can feel a bit... icky.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Weddings have always been (unfairly) labeled as frivolous or a waste of money, and now more than ever, it can feel a bit tone-deaf to be talking about them. I know this is something my friends in the business and I are feeling.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But here’s the thing: ceremony, ritual, and celebration have always been deeply human. They bring people together, create connection and belonging, and help us navigate life’s transitions. They remind us of love, hope, and the good in humanity - things we need now more than ever.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So if you’re planning a wedding, don’t feel guilty or ashamed. Love is not frivolous. Celebration is not selfish. If anything, these moments of joy and connection matter more in hard times. So my advice is to get really intentional. Focus on what really matters. Put people and purpose at the heart of your planning. Do that, and you can’t go wrong.

Shirley + Ryan - two of the sweetest, smiliest souls you could ever meet. 😊 💕

Their wedding was pure joy - bright, colourful and full of music (courtesy of their talented friends and family). They invited all their favourite people, including their very good boy Murphy who had been training for weeks for his role as ring-bearer. And if that wasn’t enough to make your heart explode, Shirley and Ryan also had a sing-along to Stand by Me (complete with lyric cards, so no excuses for not joining in!)

I can’t even remember how many years ago I first crossed paths with Kimberley—it was when she was the florist for a wedding I was officiating. I don’t think we actually met in person then (or maybe just in a quick blur of wedding chaos), but I started following and instantly fell in love - not just with Kimberley’s insanely beautiful work, but also with her hilarious, unfiltered, and totally original take on weddings.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, when I launched , she was my first call. We met at a café, I rambled on about my crazy idea, and she was immediately on board. Since then (back in 2019!), we’ve worked on so many weddings together, and it urns out, she’s exactly the same person in real life as she is online - authentic, brilliant, a bit of a rebel and an absolute joy to work with.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fast forward to late last year, and she hits me with the best news - her wedding was happening, and she wanted me to be part of it. Obviously, I was beyond thrilled. I visited their new home, met Jordan and their little boy, and heard all about the intimate, flower-filled, love-soaked celebration they were planning.

And on January 30th this year, it all came to life - just their immediate family, a ton of flowers (of course!), champagne, cake, and the and dream teams bringing it all together.
