🐕 It’s exactly one year since our ‘Subway Puppy’ project. This is the full story behind it:
When I arrived in New York, I could not deny a pain I sensed from the city. I was travelling in the subways and came across an older lady sitting down in the carriage, her face distressed.
In that moment a vision came to me, I imagined her holding a leash with a dog. (It is not legal in New York to bring animals onto the subway unless they are contained). The vision was printed in my mind.
I went back to my apartment and sketched it. A week passed by. There were nights I could not sleep, I was compelled to bring it to life. I began researching New York dog walkers.
Analysing their profile and took photos when I came across them on the street.
My intention was clear, I wanted to sculpt a dog completely out of flowers and bring it into the subway. The objective was to inject joy and vibrancy into the city and capture these moments with my camera.
I went to the flower market, filled the taxi with bunches of amaranthus flowers, brought them back to my apartment and created my sculpture. 200 stems hand stitched onto a metal wire structure within 3 hours.
I brought the dog into the subway and targeted each person who fit the dog walker aesthetic to participate in the Subway Puppy Project.
The performance was a show stopper. Our art was taken from sculpture to performance and combined floristry with street photography. I learned how much I love to connect with people on a deeper level and that there’s a myriad of ways to do so.

🛫🇫🇷 How my international floristry career began.
In the winter of 2017 I moved to Paris and started my career working with Eric Chauvin . This was before Don de L’Amour was born.
I was 24, couldn’t speak French at the time but I studied it relentlessly. 8 hours of French lessons a week. I was determined to show them they made the right choice as I was one of the first native English-speaking florists hired at the time. Eric and the team gave me an opportunity of a lifetime. The events I worked on were world class. I felt like I had to learn floristry from scratch and abandon everything I once knew. I felt like I was living in a dream. It was a glorious time. Although the French were tough, they also taught me how to live in the moment. We would have office room meetings to cut cakes together and have celebratory champagne breaks.
I would never forget something my manager Chantal once told me, today I form my team the same way.
"I want every single one of your bouquets leaving the boutique to be exceptional. That is why I am tough on you."
I fell in love with Paris. I grew so much, made so many friends, learnt how to live alone and how to love myself.
Next I’ll be sharing how Paris shaped my career, the business I developed when I moved back to Australia in 2019 and my vision for the future.

Last year Emily and Valdi met with us to discuss a unique vision for their wedding. As floral artists we worked with them closely, understanding their characters and tastes to propose a vision that is unique, exciting and also bring natural blue elements to new heights using cacti and succulent details.

We were asked to realise a vision for these opulent centrepieces for ‘s event held yesterday. Working with and to bring the venue alive through sophisticated and bold compositions overflowing onto the tables.
Each basketball was one of a kind, catching light from textural aloe veras and vibrates hues of red and blues. From every angle the expressions emitted harmonious and energetic sensations.

Founded in Sydney in 2019, artist and creative director Amy Thai’s creative ambitions and commitment to pushing the boundaries with floristry and art has led us to explore new destinations, embrace radical creativity, and recognise the evolving needs of our clients.
🌏Don de L’Amour now has a growing team in Australia and this new phase of our journey means we will be operating in two major cities simultaneously whilst our books open for unique and creative commissions and event bookings worldwide.

💫Firstly over the last year we were focused on building on our incredible growth with a new brand strategy.
Founding a business, dedicating the work and then hitting the milestones during these years has encouraged us to continue to innovate and explore new destinations beyond the borders of Australia.

In true French style, this sophisticated yet mesmerising installation pays homage to none other than the irresistible Château de Versailles. This distinguished botanical composition surges with a twist of imagination and style. Featuring sumptuous layers of delicate orchids, rich burgundy dahlias and hydrangeas, inspiring grandeur and opulence to the evening.

Don de L’Amour designed & .ariya ‘s 3 day wedding celebration with a seamless blend of rosey delicateness which engulfed the senses and created nature-filled moments to savour.
Ashleigh’s bridal bouquet was composed with delicate mini phalaenopsis orchids, whilst for her bridesmaids we designed long stemmed white calla lillies flown in from Holland.
While the rose perfumery across the table settings exuded subtle-sweet and enticing scents, bringing depth that was bright and grounded, it effortlessly transported guests out into the mesmerising French gardens decadently surrounded by crisp fresh air.

For & .ariya ‘s reception dinner held at we envisioned luxurious whites and delicate pastel compositions that left guests feeling refreshed. From the soft and delicate textures of mini orchids to organic forms and tiered waterfalls of gypsophila, the effect was at once warm and inviting upon entrance and throughout the venue.

This sophisticated, romantic style was made for the dreamy, poetic, and thoughtful. Inspired by French gardens, our vision for the day was a luxurious blend of fragrant garden roses and delicate cosmos. The reception table florals emitted soft, feminine, and floral notes that captured the flowering gardens in Spring. Our curation of whites, pastel pinks, and creams was reminiscent of Parisian old-world beauty.

Created in 2020 as a permanent full scale installation for @the_mayflower_sydney Darlinghurst store, 1250 stems of amaranthus was dried then suspended from the ceiling. The process of creating our pieces includes many of the principles as fine art. Taking on roles as sculptor and florist, keeping tones, texture, focal point, and the flower variety in mind as we build on the concepts for our arrangements. Foam-free Moon Installation from start to finish 🌙 Lawren envisioned Kitana’s 100th Day birthday flowers to be decorated in shades of purples and blues. Her invitation was styled with a crescent moon and so Amy proposed to design a sculptural piece in this shape. Like painting strokes onto a canvas we attached each fresh and preserved floral component by hand. All flowers are real. This is my most adored style to create. From the city I practiced my craft in. Here is my Signature Paris bouquet as a hand-tied arrangement. Inspired by the florals created for haute couture houses, Fashion week runways and luxurious settings. To piece them together I place consideration into all the elements. French for the ‘Gift of Love’, our company specialises in bespoke design and creative direction with elegance, intricate detailing, simplicity and colour harmony at the forefront in all that we do. Composing each arrangement, sculpture and installation by hand, Amy and her team maintain complete creative and quality control from ideation and conception of design, careful selection of floral variety, conditioning and preparation to completion of a piece.
