Gig: UNSW 75th Anniversary
Client: UNSW
Job: Signage Fabrication

Our clients keep coming back to us because we deliver custom solutions unique to each project.

UNSW came to us for a signage solution for an outdoor exhibition of photos celebrating their 75th anniversary and we knew that we had to go big. Our masterminds came up with a custom truss cube with aluminium panels cut and fit by our mate AG-FABS and vinyl decals by ScrimWorks for an impactful visual product.

With internal ballast and screwjack levelling system, the cubes are stylised to appear like they are floating on air. Exhibition lighting fixtures are rigged from the top to ensure these wonderful images can be seen at all times of the day and night.

Congrats to UNSW on turning 75 years young! We’re so happy to be a part of the celebrations.

This exhibition system is ready to hire for your next outdoor gallery show. Get in touch to find out more - www.dplr.com.au

Client: The Ethics Centre
Job: Technical Management | Audio | Lighting | LED

dplr were proud to once again be technical partners with The Ethics Centre for their bi-annual keynote event, the Festival of Dangerous Ideas, which happened at Carriageworks on August 24th & 25th, providing production management and technical delivery for five separate venues and various activation spaces.

The festival saw talks and panels from notable thinkers discussing emerging ideas about politics, ethics and culture, as well as interactive art installations that delighted and intrigued.

This project utilised a wide range of our inventory, including crisp LED displays to frame the stage and showcase presentation content, remote and operated cameras for the live-to-screen feed, dynamic lighting and audio systems that ensured an intimate experience for everyone in the room. Our expert team meticulously installed a systems network that covered all Carriageworks venues and ensured that the sessions were seamless from start to finish, providing a quality experience for the presenters and audience alike.

dplr also provided live-streaming for at-home ticket holders during the event and as on-demand content, as well as audio recordings of all sessions for a specially released podcast series post-event.

Six years ago, FODI was the first event that dplr produced as a company, so it holds a special place in our hearts and we congratulate the Ethics Centre on their continued success with the festival.

Gig: Art & About 2024
Client: City of Sydney
Job: Repair and Maintenance | Installation

Long-running photography competition Australian Life is back this year as part of City of Sydney’s Art & About festival, an ongoing program of temporary art projects in unusual spaces.

Our technicians were responsible for the repair and installation of the custom exhibition system, including repainting and repairing the concrete bases, improving the lighting system, expertly placing the elements on site and running power and catenary.

We took a fabricated system, studied it, improved it and made the installation more efficient. It’s what we do.
