We had an eye-opening experience visiting @SungaiWatch, a groundbreaking organization that’s tackling plastic pollution head-on in Indonesia. In just a few years, they’ve removed over 2.4 million kilograms of waste from rivers, transforming discarded materials into sustainable furniture and properly recycling the rest. Recently, our Director of Sales and Product, Michael Walker, embarked on an exciting journey to Munich—the heart of Bavaria—to explore potential experiences and suppliers for DIRECTIONS' future client adventures.
In true Bavarian style, he started with a visit to a classic German Beer Garden, where he savoured the finest Bavarian brews amidst lively chatter and traditional wooden benches—embodying the essence of gemütlichkeit. Embracing modern technology, Michael explored Munich's winding streets, historical landmarks, and modern marvels through a virtual reality city tour, seamlessly blending the past and future.
The itinerary included an adrenaline-packed adventure at the Johan Schweizer Arena, where guests can ride artificial waves and enjoy indoor skydiving, offering unique and thrilling experiences. The up-and-coming Werksviertel district captivated Michael with its industrial chic vibes, featuring shipping containers transformed into trendy bars, nightclubs, and restaurants—perfect for an edgy urban night out.
Our stay at the finest hotels Munich has to offer ensured top-notch comfort and luxury for future events. The Bayerischer Hof Hotel, with its German elegance, spacious rooms, extensive event spaces, and a rooftop bar with breathtaking views, provided a luxurious stay. A recent destination we have visited and a favourite amongst the DIRECTIONS crew is Marrakesh, also known as the “Red City”, it is a vibrant and enhancing city located in Morocco. It is renowned for its rich history, stunning architecture, and bustling souks (markets). Marakesh is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world.
One of the city's most iconic landmarks is the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Medina is a maze-like ancient quarter, filled with narrow winding streets, colourful riads (traditional houses), and bustling marketplaces. Here, you can immerse yourself in the sounds, smells, and flavours of Moroccan culture, as merchants sell spices, textiles, ceramics, and other handicrafts.
Marrakesh also offers a variety of experiences to activate all your senses - indulging in traditional Moroccan cuisine, such as tagines and couscous dishes, to enjoying cultural performances like belly-dancing and traditional music, there is no shortage of entertainment options.
It is a captivating destination that seamlessly blends history, culture, and natural beauty.
