🎸 fRETfEST DIRECTOR REVEALS 🎸
“People often ask why I put so much time, energy & money into fRETfEST and the answer is easy; when you hear someone singing a song you never heard before and it touches you, that moment reaches into your soul and speaks directly to you, and then you see the person standing on stage with just a guitar in their hands and you realise they don’t even know who you are but they connect with you!
That’s the magic of a singer songwriter standing alone on stage with a message for strangers that comes directly from their heart and through their fingers on the strings, they are revealing themselves to an audience who are connecting through the music. That’s what keeps me coming back to fRETfEST and it hasn’t changed in 27 years since I first came up with the concept in 1997. One person alone on stage with an acoustic guitar revealing themselves to an audience. That’s a powerful thing to experience in real life and many people have told me it’s a massive inspiration, to be amongst song writers in a room and to meet them off stage or back stage, the buzz of meeting other people who get you, those brave musicians who stand alone on stage and bare their soul. That’s why I keep fRETfEST alive.”
