LET’S TALK LEGALITIES! 🖊️ 📄 Here’s everything you need to know about the legal process in Australia to get married. (Simplified!)💕18 months to one calendar month before your ceremony -fill out the notice of intent to marry (this is the legal doc that captures you and your honey pots info and makes declarations that you are over 18, whether you have been married before and whether you are related) and have it signed and witnessed by an authorised person or celebrant. Both legends are then identified. This doc must be handed to a celebrant at least 30 days prior to your ceremony (no more than 18 months) or you can’t legally marry on that date. (Extenuating circumstance may be eligible e for a shortening of time but just get it done asap)💕one week prior and up to the day of the ceremony- both lovers sign the declaration of no legal impediment (the last little disclaimer if you will) stating that everything you told your celebrant prior was the truth and you still want to get married. 💕at the ceremony- I say the 120ish legal words, you both repeat after me “I call upon the people here present to witness that I (insert name) take you (insert name) to be my lawfully wedded husband/wife/partner”, then both lovers sign the two official certificates and the pretty certificate (in your current name) as well as two witnesses over 18. 💕after the ceremony- I go home and register your wedding and have your official marriage certificate posted out to you, I send you a little texty text letting you know how to change your name (if you wish).
