• Australian DanceSport Championships 2024

What a wonderful experience it was travelling to Melbourne this past weekend for the Australian DanceSport Championships , held at Centrepiece. The competition spanned across 4 days and was the largest competition we’ve ever seen 😍

Bella & Lamar competed in the Juvenile age group, in Standard, Latin and New Vogue. While Oliver & Keeley competed in all three styles in the Adult C Grade competitions. Bella & Lamar also joined Keeley in the Coach/Student Juvenile events across the three styles.

🐝 Lamar made it through to the final in his Juvenile Lead Samba
🐝 The Juvenile Solo Samba saw 102 juveniles compete through 7 heats. Lamar ended up making it out of the first round and placing 42nd
🐝 Keeley & Bella danced in the Coach Student Standard semi final
🐝 Keeley & Lamar danced in the Coach Student Latin and New Vogue semi final
🐝 Bella made it through to the semi final of her Juvenile Follow Charmaine
🐝 Bella & Lamar came 12th out of 24 competitors in the Juvenile OPEN Paso Doble 😍

Lamar’s highlight of the weekend was seeing some oh his old friends from Tassie and watching his idol, dance the Professional Latin.
Bella was loving all the events and admiring all of the stunning Ballroom and Latin dresses. She took lots of inspiration for next year in Junior. She even went and spoke to a dancer whose dress she loved & was in awe when the lady was the “most lovely person ever”.

“We got to see some fantastic dancing across the two days that we attended! And we’re all so grateful for the experience it has given us. A massive thank you to everyone who helped us get here, both physically and in dancing. We’re so lucky to have you all!
My last competition with .robino is definitely one I won’t forget. Our partnership has meant so much to me and I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.
And to B&L, you two are going to do amazing things. Keep working hard. Your passion for dance will take you places.”

In 2025, Bill’s Ballroom will be undergoing a substantial change. Many of you know that 2024 will be the final year that Rhiannon & Keeley will be dancing, however, the studio will not be closing.

We will be using this social as a means of farewell for Keeley & Rhiannon, as well as, a celebration of how far the studio has come over the past few years.

Whether you’re a current or ex student, a family member or friend, or someone who only sees us at competitions or events, we’d love to have you in attendance. So please join us, all are welcome 🐝

💜 Carrie's Place Domestic Violence and Homelessness Services Inc. Have reached out to us! They wanted us to thank you all for your generosity at our fundraiser & let us know what their plan is for our donation. This year, they will be using your donation to put towards Christmas hampers for those in need.

💜 CARRIES PLACE FUNDRAISER 2024 💜

As many of you know, this past Friday our Bill’s Ballroom community raised money for a very important cause, a cause that is extremely close to our hearts. Domestic violence leading to homelessness is an ever present issue in our community & it’s time we did our part to stop jt. Providing monetary support for innocent women and children, so they can have some place safe to sleep is the least we can do.

The winners of the lolly jar guessing competition is 🥁🥁 MARGARET & TREVOR with a guess of 900 🍬 The total number of lollies in the jar was 886. Congratulations guys and enjoys some sweet treats 🍭

Did you know, in Australia, there are more than 19,400 homeless children aged 0-14 years? Domestic and family violence is a major contributor to this homelessness. Without emergency accommodation or support networks, vulnerable parents and their children are forced to survive in unfavourable situations, during a time of crisis. (Mission Australia)

Without a stable environment, children can experience detrimental side effects, such as developmental delays, emotional strain and adverse health effects. No child deserves this 💔

Bill’s Ballroom acknowledges that this is a dire issue in our country & we have decided to dedicate this years fundraiser to a charity that provides refuge to these vulnerable families.

💜 CARRIES PLACE 💜 is a local organisation that provides aid to people experienced domestic or family violence.
The charity relies on donations and the generosity of strangers to continue their support for the vulnerable.

This coming Friday, September 27, Bill’s Ballroom will be holding a ballroom dancing social event, we’re all profits are donated to this amazing cause. 100% of donations and door fees will be given to Carrie’s Place, as well as the money made on our lolly jar guessing competition. Here’s what you need to know:

⏰When: September 27th at 6:30pm
📍Where: Teralba Community Hall, Anzac Pde
💜Theme: please wear something purple 🦄🍇
🍭What to bring: we ask that each family attending bring a plate to share for supper 🥪🍱 (this can be anything from a plate of sandwiches, to a slice or a bag of chips)
💃🏻Who can attend: we encourage everyone of any age to come along. You don’t have to be a dancer to have a great time & maybe even win some prizes throughout the night
💰Cost: $15 adults, $10 children entry fee at the door

In 2024, Bill’s Ballroom are raising funds to support CARRIE’S PLACE 🦋💜

Our fundraiser will be held:
🦋 Friday September 27th, 2024
💜 At Teralba Community Hall
🦋 Doors open 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start
💜 Wear your fav PURPLE attire
🦋 $15pp at the door goes straight to this charity

Carrie’s Place is a charity located in the Hunter Region. Carrie’s Place provides Domestic Violence and Homelessness support to woman and children. The support services available include Staying Home and Leaving Domestic Violence and Hunter Valley Women’s DV Court Advocacy.

We have decided to raise funds for Carrie’s Place Butterfly Effect as this, unfortunately, is an extremely relevant issue & we believe it’s vital that these services are available for those in need.

Our end of term social is a great opportunity for those who are able to donate to such an impressive group. The $15 door fee is directly donated, as well as any additional donations you may choose to make.
This term we will also be holding a Lolly Jar Guessing Competition, in which all profits are also added to our donation.

💜 See Keeley or Rhiannon in class for your chance to make a guess

Our Social Fundraisers are a dancing filled nights featuring Ballroom, Latin and Sequence styles. We will have games and prizes for those involved so bring your dancing shoes! Bill’s Ballroom is strictly a no-alcohol venue 💜

✨ May 7th - Term 2, Week 2 ✨ This week we’re coming off a major high following the SATD Autumn Dance Festival in Blacktown! Our studio bought home a whopping 76 placings across 86 events, including: 34x First places 🥇 32x Second places 🥈 10x Third places 🥉 Keeley and Oliver won the Open Adult Ballroom and the Open Adult Latin & Michael and Lenise took out the Open to All Slow and Quick Jive, beating 15 other couples! A massive congratulations is in order to everyone who competed over the weekend 😍😍 The SATD was also kind enough to get everyone to sing own very own Stephen a happy birthday for his 40th last week 🥹🥹 This coming week will be running like all others, with only 7 more weeks until medals, it’s super important that all medalists are attending class as often as possible! Don’t forget we also run the social in a Friday night from 8pm, which is a great opportunity to practice 💃🏻💃🏻 One of our kidlets is having a birthday this week, so Happiest of Birthdays to Eillah for today 🎂🎉 Enjoy your day & your lesson with us tonight 😍 See you all this week for a great week of dancing! 🫶🏼
