Last weekend Julie-Ann and Michael officially certified their 40-year love story with an intimate legals only ceremony surrounded by those they love and cherish the most in this world.

Theirs was a celebration of a partnership, a loving kindness and willingness to accept change in themselves and each other.

Let’s talk Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM)!

The Marriage Act 1961 has just been permanently amended so couples can have their NOIM witnessed remotely (online via audio and visual hook up) - it was so popular during the pandemic that they decided to keep it!

Yep – that's right, if we can’t all get together in person for the all-important NOIM meeting, we have options!

I often get asked for my advice for couples planning their ceremony... so here are my top 5 tips I tell all newly engaged couples!

1️⃣ Communicate with each other!
2️⃣ Be clear about what your ceremony vision is – then stick together and trust your initial instincts – be clear, there will be those who want to sway this for you along the way!
3️⃣ Set your budget upfront and stick to it – allowing a contingency margin of course 😊
4️⃣ Research your vendors well – check out their work and reviews as you will want their style and attitude to compliment your vision – it is your day after all
5️⃣ Once your vision agreed on, budget set and preferred vendors/suppliers selected – book them in ASAP! Many vendors can be booked up to 2 years in advance.

Road tripping is one of the things that J Boy and I love to do together. Aside from taking in new sights or reminiscing about ‘been there before’ sights, it is a good way to unwind together.

Last weekend we took some time out and headed ‘home’ to Tambo, back to where we first met and to some of the scenes of our wedding day.

Some reasons for just the two of you to get in a car and get on the open road together:
🚗Away from everyday life, you can have open and meaningful conversations
🚗Create new memories and experiences together
🚗Relax and reset – work on your individual wellbeing and your ‘couple’ wellbeing
🚗Solve the problems of the world, and a few of your own along the way
🚗Bonus – you get to take that energy and any plans you made home with you!

Rain, hail or shine this adorable couple were meant to share their special ceremony with their loved ones and friends 💞

While the weather may have had other ideas for their best laid plans, last minute changes made their day just like their love story – perfect!

With a clear vision for how they wanted to share their love story with everyone, Tayla and Dean were a dream couple to work with. Hearts melted when these two exchanged wedding rings already blessed with a history of love – both belonging to grandparents whose love and support will always be remembered.

I LOVE a wedding ceremony that incorporates some uniqueness from my lovers!

At a recent wedding I officiated, Taylor and Dean wanted to do a Butterfly Release as part of their commitment to each other 🦋 You see, butterflies are as beautiful as they are fragile. They symbolise transformation and all that is perfect in the world.

I believe one of the secrets to being happy with the one you love is to take hold lightly and let go lightly and this butterfly release was the perfect example of this.

There is no doubt that Mother’s Day is one of the most significant days in the calendar to celebrate your mother and all that she means to you 🥰

Another such occasion is that of your wedding day! I like to encourage couples to consider showing their mums just how special she is on their significant day, as sometimes they can be ‘lost’ in the crowd.

Mums will most likely be there helping coordinate important aspects of the celebration, crowd controlling family guests (including the drunkles), the ‘go to’ when things go astray, and silently holding it together as they catch sight of their son or daughter for the first time on the day 🥲

Some ways to include mum on your special day and show her your appreciation are:
💞have her get ready with you
💞include her in walking down the aisle with you
💞ask her to hold the bouquet during the ceremony
💞ask her to be your witness
💞have her present the rings
💞and thank her – either privately or in front of your guests in a speech.

Reflecting back on my very first wedding ceremony, it could not have been more perfect in terms of my introduction to this truly wonderful vocation!

Zoe and Sean were the perfect first clients. Their love story is so sweet, and they will always have a piece of my heart.

They were work colleagues for some time (although Sean was keen for a date or ten) and then Zoe finally relented, and they have been inseparable since.

Their ceremony was sweet and intimate, their few chosen family and friends and me 😊 Just perfect!

25 years of marriage is a wonderful milestone 💞 I recently had the privilege of helping Liam and Sharon who wanted to celebrate theirs with a vow renewal ceremony at Kingscliff with their daughters, Sinead and Molly.

Sharing their story with their daughters in an intimate setting was important to Liam and Sharon, and this is exactly what occurred on the beach!

Love was in the air and I couldn't have been more thrilled to have shared in the incredible wedding of these two lovebirds at the Howling Moon Rooftop Bar in Canberra last month! 💖

From the moment they walked up the steps giggling with Dad to flipping a coin for who'd state their vows first, it was clear this celebration was going to be one for the books! 🎩👰

These original pranksters kept me on my celebrant toes, but their love and admiration for each other shone through every moment. It was an absolute joy to witness and be a part of their special day.

What made it even more special? The bride's mum and I go way back – we're talking childhood friends, with a lineage of sisterhood that runs deep. It was an honor to celebrate this beautiful moment with such a close-knit family. 💕
