Do you like the idea of a tying the knot in a handfasting ceremony? This is how couples made a commitment to love one another back in time when there was no money to spend on wedding garments, rings and feasts. I will be holding mini handfasting ceremonies at the Townsville Medieval & Fantasy Festival on Sunday from 11.30am. Sign up begins at 10am, and only 6 handfasting cords for sale, so don't miss out! You may bring your own, or bring rings, to make your commitment. Couples this is a non-legal ceremony to bind your love for a year and a day as is the pagan tradition. Look for me under the fig tree with the golden circle arbour. Blessed be to all who would like to share their love in a small ceremony at the festival. Cost is $100 including handfasting cord, $60 without cord.

When it comes to an elopement wedding with only your two witnesses present, you can count on me to help out with your dress, your flowers, and anything else including a tissue if needed. I always provide your vows printed for you to read, or if reading is difficult we can do a repeat after me vow. For couples with no witnesses, yes we can provide a baby sitter/witness or a musician/witness or a bride's assistant to help you get ready and be your witness. There's no request too big or too small.

Congratulations to the gorgeous Jessica and Lindsay, now the Sherwoods! We had a bit of a windy, rainy day in Nelly Bay but it was still a stunning wedding that the whole family enjoyed.

This sunset wedding took place on the beach below Driftwood House in Nobby's Headland at Picnic Bay, Magnetic Island, Qld.
When Ian pledged his vows to Jo at his Magnetic Island wedding he said :

A most memorable day in Queens Gardens, North Ward Townsville for the wedding of Jamie and Aysha, who met as 13 year old teenagers on a family holiday in Cairns. There was an instant spark and a connection was formed quite quickly. Who knew a game of Red, Red Rover on the playground would lead us to this day? Yet Jamie and Aysha both always knew this day was inevitable, from the moment they met.

Happy anniversary Jake and Jen! It was a thrilling occasion on Magnetic Island when these two came all the way from England to be married here. The next time I saw Jen again it was on television, marching behind the Queen's processional at her funeral. Her defence forces role in the UK keeps her so busy, but here on Magnetic Island we wish for them to have a second honeymoon here one day, to relive their wonderful wedding day. Much love to Jen and Jake and all the couples celebrating their anniversary in this month of September!

Congratulations Cindy & Mitchell, married Friday 25th November 2023 in a very private ceremony at Nobby's Headland, Picnic Bay.
When the bride walked down the rocky aisle, the setting sun picked up the sparkle on the dress and she glittered magically, with young daughter Charlotte at her side. This couple were brave and strong throughout their beautiful ceremony, as no doubt they are in life.
Mitchell proposed in New Zealand, at the base of Mount Cook, and so how appropriate they came to Magnetic Island to stand at the base of another Mt Cook for their marriage. Their love of travel has taken them to so many places and yet they found the most perfect place in the world to say I DO. Married in the month of November, which has always been an important month for them, especially since it is the month that their baby girl was born. It was my absolute honour to be part of this extremely special moment, knowing just how deep and meaningful every second of this day was to the couple and their family. My heartfelt love to you Cindy, may you always sparkle!
The couple enjoyed a fabulous photo session with Magnetic Photography and Beat found a second location before sunset, for some special shots. Music was provided by the lovely Lauren Gregory Music and flowers by Away with Flowers. A private French chef to cater a spectacular dinner made their evening complete. More details on that to come soon.

Congratulations Suzanne and Brandon, married on Horseshoe Bay beach Magnetic Island on 8th October 2022. The wedding was so special with the couple telling their own relationship story to the guests after their ushers danced down the aisle in gold hot pants!

Whilst everyone else isolated with Netflix this couple slipped their kayaks into a glassy flat sea and paddled to Dunk island to camp on an isolated beach, under the Milky Way surrounded by phosphorescence as the moon rose. Suzanne didn’t mind being sandy and salty and sleeping on the ground. Not only that, she could whip up a gourmet meal on a tiny gas stove. Brandon realised then she was his perfect match!

Suzanne agreed that it was after that first kayak and camping trip that she really started to fall in love with Brandon, having a particularly soft spot for a man who can light a fire, spear a fish, string up a tarp and stay up all night gazing at huge starry skies. Brandon definitely ticked all of those and many other boxes.
It was an honour to pronounce them husband and wife with their most loved friends and family watching on. Congrats to you both!
