Nothing is more stirring at the end of a funeral than the sound of bagpipes echoing through the church. The mournful sound of bagpipes evokes deep emotions. It’s as if the instrument expresses the soul’s grief in a way that words cannot. Bagpipes have deep roots in Celtic cultures, including Irish and Scottish traditions. They were historically used in weddings, funerals, and celebrations.
This was the scene at St Mark's Catholic Church in Drummoyne as the casket was brought outside into the winter sunshine accompanied by the piper. CeremonyCast's cameras were there to record this memorable moment.
What do you think about the sound of bagpipes?

Rob loved cars and taking part in motorkhanas. His mates knew the perfect way to farewell him was to rev their engines and form a special guard of honour at the end of his memorial ceremony. Cars of all kinds lined up for a lap around the oval at St Ives Showground, headed by Rob's parents driving his beloved Skyline. And everyone stood alongside the road for the parade, clapping and cheering as the cars passed by.
CeremonyCast was on hand to capture the moment with two camera crews making sure every angle was covered. We understand how crucial it is for those who can’t be there in person to still participate in such an important moment.

How about this for a true badge of honour? Everyone arriving at Patrick's funeral received a badge to wear with his face on. It was a way to honour him and bring his memory to the fore. It's not just badges - we often see customised t-shirts or hoodies at funerals paying tribute to the person who's died. It's almost like a uniform which connects everyone present. Would you like something like this at your own funeral?

In Catholic funeral rituals, the sprinkling of holy water holds deep symbolism and significance. It's one of many important details that we always show in our funeral live streams because we understand how vital these moments are for those watching.
The sprinkling of water is explained in detail by Father John Bridges. "As the body is brought into the church, it is blessed with holy water. This act recalls the waters of baptism. Just as we are baptised into the death and resurrection of Christ, this sprinkling reminds us of our spiritual rebirth."
"The water symbolises cleansing and renewal. By sprinkling the coffin, we acknowledge that the deceased was once baptised and became a disciple of Christ. Even in death, this connection to faith remains intact. The sprinkling also points to the hope of resurrection. We believe that those who have died with Christ in baptism will rise with Him."
"Finally, the ritual connects the deceased to the larger Christian community. It reminds us that we are part of the Body of Christ, both in life and death. The sprinkling reinforces our shared faith and the communion of saints."
CeremonyCast uses the latest live streaming technology to put your online guests at the heart of the ceremony, no matter how, when or where they’re watching. We are Sydney’s trusted team of live streaming professionals, recommended by funeral directors, churches, and most importantly - families.

Sydney is a city of so many cultures and so we get to experience all the ways communities do death differently. It's an honour to be part of such personal and intimate moments and we learn a lot from participating. We are always impressed with how the Islander community embraces its traditions, and each other, when someone dies. It's very hands-on, involving, and a big shared experience where people come together to sing, pray, tell stories and remember. There's always an open casket, people come up and say goodbye, and although sadness and grief are fully embraced and expressed, it's also a big celebration. It's the exact opposite to the style of funeral service where everything is kept at arm's length, runs on the clock and feels almost clinical because grief is being neatly packaged away.
CeremonyCast joined Saia's family in Mount Druitt for two days of mourning and three different ceremonies to bid him farewell. It meant that lots of family and friends from overseas could join in. His videos have all had hundreds of views in the days since as people watch again or catch up with the recording. Having a copy of the funeral video to keep means the live stream goes on to become a valuable piece of family history.

Saying farewell to someone is all about telling stories, crafting words and sharing history. So don't you think that holding a memorial in a library is just the perfect place? Even more so for Margaret, who spent many happy and memorable years as a librarian. She made a massive impression on many lives and gifted her love of reading, researching, knowledge and writing to all those she knew. Lots of friends gathered in the Friends Room at the State Library of NSW to pay tribute, and CeremonyCast was honoured to be asked to live stream and record the special event.

Great feedback and words of thanks are always validating, but when people take time to leave us a public review at a time when so much is happening, we appreciate those words all the more. We just had a beautiful 5* Google Review from Mara, who we helped last week at her Mum's funeral at St Ambrose Church in Concord West. Here's what she said.
"You created a lovely video for us to keep of mum’s funeral service. I wasn't aware of any cameras at the church at the time. I watched the recording later that evening and the vision and sound were like being there. I saw some moments that I'd missed at the time, like subtle reactions from people etc. My relatives in Italy were pleased and honoured to be able to take part from so far away. They hadn’t seen any of us in quite a few years. Thank you for capturing this celebration of our mother's life and memory for us."
We're so happy because all the things we aim to do were mentioned - being unobtrusive, always looking out for the little details, excellent sound.
When we say CeremonyCast is the best way to be there when you can't be there - we really mean it!

Black, white, blue or silver - modern or classic - we see all kinds of hearses at the funerals we live stream in and around Sydney. As well as the ceremony itself, we also make sure to capture the moments before and after for people watching from afar, like the hearse leaving for the final journey to the cemetery. Did you know that the history of the hearse can be traced back to the 17th century? Originally, hearses were horse-drawn carriages used to transport bodies after death. The word “hearse” evolved from the Middle English term “herse,” which referred to a candelabra placed on top of a coffin. Home is where we make lots of memories and feel most at ease. So have you considered holding a funeral at home? It makes total sense, if you have the space and mindset to make it happen. You may not realise this, but there aren't many rules around where you can hold a funeral ceremony with a casket present and we're seeing a lot more of these personalised farewells. CeremonyCast live streamed Kevin's celebration of life from his back yard in Sydney, where family and friends gathered to say goodbye. What a very special afternoon with a location so meaningful for the family.

When we're live streaming a funeral, we want people watching to feel like they're right there with us (in fact, we've had people tell us we give them a better view than being there in person!) One of the things we do is to make sure we get all the details, including the floral tributes. Maria's funeral was off the charts when it came to flowers - she loved them so much and wanted her farewell to be colourful and beautiful. There were so many, it took more than a minute of footage to show them all, and the funeral director had to bring a second hearse, just for the flowers. Wow!

I think we're really lucky sometimes to be part of some really beautiful farewells that really capture the essence of someone's life and personality. Take this as a perfect example - a floral tribute on the beach at Freshwater. Once the main ceremony at the surf club was over, we all made our way to the shoreline to drop a frangipani flower into the ocean as a symbol of love and remembrance. We took a mobile camera to the beach so everyone watching our funeral live stream could also be part of the moment. CeremonyCast uses the latest live streaming technology to put your online guests at the heart of the ceremony, no matter how, when or where they’re watching.

One of the details we like to capture in our live streams is the guest book. Have you ever wondered exactly what these are for at a funeral or memorial? Firstly, it's an important record of who was present. In the whirlwind of the day, the family doesn't always get to see every single face. Reading the names afterwards offers comfort and solace. Usually it's just your name in the book, but sometimes it's your address too (email and/or postal). This helps the family when sending thank-you notes. If you don't know the family well, you can also include your relationship to the person who has passed (eg John Smith, work colleague from XYZ Pty). But what shouldn't you write in the guest book? It may be well-intentioned, but the book isn't the place to leave condolences or other notes. For more extensive messages, consider writing a separate card or letter expressing your condolences. Signing the funeral guestbook is a small but significant way to honour the departed and show compassion to their loved ones.

The theme from Star Wars soundtracking the post-ceremony cocktails and canapes after we farewelled Liam high in the sky, 26 floors up above Parramatta. Creating a beautiful farewell is a combination of so many things all coming together, but at the heart of everything is a laser beam (or should I say lightsaber?) focus on honouring the person in the most personal and meaningful way possible. Liam would have LOVED this.

Three cheers as a much-loved husband and father leaves home for the last time. Funerals held at home can be incredibly meaningful and moving - they don't need to be in a chapel or church. A beautiful ceremony masterminded by the team at Picaluna on Sydney's Northern Beaches. Thanks for asking us to record the ceremony for the family to keep for future generations to heart all the stories and memories of someone very special.

Having something to pick up and hold to remind you of someone can be hugely comforting, a great way to start a conversation about them, and the perfect way to ensure their legacy lives on. Maureen loved taking photos and all her friends who came to her memorial were told to help themselves to them, and also to some beautiful items of pottery that she'd collected. We made sure we filmed the beautiful table display so everyone watching the live stream didn't miss out. As well as the ceremony itself, we do our best to capture as much detail as we can, such as the flowers, the setting, those attending, any photos or personal mementos etc. Can we help your family? Walking in front of the hearse is a sign of respect for the deceased. It symbolises the funeral director's commitment to ensuring that the departed is treated with dignity and honour throughout the entire funeral process. By leading the hearse, the funeral director represents the transition of the deceased from the world of the living to their final destination. It is a symbolic act that acknowledges the solemnity of the moment.
