As its National Science Week, we thought we'd share a fun ceramic related science fact!! Did you know that your painted ceramics get dipped in a green substance called 'glaze'. This glaze is essentially made up of silica (the key ingredient in glass) and fluxes to help the melting temperature. When heated to the extremely hot temperature within our kiln, the silica melts and fuses to your ceramic. This creates a clear glass coating, hence making your ceramics bright, shiny, waterproof and 100% food safe! Pretty cool hey!! 😎

When planning your design, you can use a grey lead to draw your outline. This makes it so easy to go ahead and paint within your lines! The best part is, the greylead lines disappear completely when fired in the kiln- so cool!! 😁

From Teacher to Business Chick!!

Hi Facebookers! I’m Kirsty and thanks for your interest in my business!

After a wonderful career as a primary school teacher, I decided to pop a couple of buns in the oven and live the mum life looking after two little rugrats. OK, they are AMAZING but lets face it... hard work and all consuming!!!!

Once my gorgeous bundles of joy reached an age where they could wipe their own bot bots, and get their pen licence on their own, I decided to go back to the classroom to teach. After a few years part time, I realised how much I loved the freedom to run my own race. Teaching will always be a love of mine, so I will always maintain my teaching accreditation.

But it’s time to do something different!
