To put it into one sentence, it would be to help businesses grow and make more money. We wanted to create something new that doesn’t exist by combining our photo booth and marketing experiences together.

Prior to starting this brand, we were in the photo booth space for around 5 years. We started back in November 2014. 500 odd events later, we sold the company unexpectedly to a previous client in March 2019.

What we discovered was, most venue managers wanted to add a photo booth to their packages. With the company we sold, we had 6 photo booths and the truth is, we weren’t able to book them all out consistently every weekend. So what we tried to do was establish partnerships with venues saying - we’ll let you keep one of our booths. Any functions you get, include our photo booth as an up-sell and we’ll split the additional revenue.

Every single manager loved this concept! Although once they saw the size of the equipment, they said no thanks. Mainly due to storage purposes and also because they didn’t want to take responsibility if something was to happen as our equipment cost $15-$20k each.

So we thought why not create our own photo booth software and hardware?! This is the perfect way for those managers who've always wanted to add a photo booth but didn't want to risk the huge outlay let alone worry about storage space and staff to manage it.

When it comes to payment of our services, we could have gone about it like the telecommunications companies and offer 24 month contracts but we thought to keep it simple and straightforward.

We don’t need to lock in our members with contracts because we’re confident they won’t drop off. If you cancel because it’s costing you extra money (highly unlikely) or we’re doing something wrong then we’ll be onto it right away! The pressure is on us.

When developing it, turning our vision into reality, the number one priority was to create something simple and automated.

Hoping everyone on the east coast of Australia is safe and as dry as possible from the flooding! If I stayed another night in then I would have lost my car last night! The bottom half of my friend's van is underwater! Hopefully it will be fine within the next few days….It’s incredible what can do in the span of 8-10 hours!!

Firstly, pat on the back to you for having the courage and taking the risk of starting something fresh during uncertain times.

Some people might find this quote hard to believe but did you know that the companies Uber and Airbnb were born during the last global financial crisis of 2008/2009 and today are valued at over $50 billion combined.

Gary Vaynerchuk started in 2009 and today he employs over 1000 people across a few countries.

Patrick Bet-David also started his insurance company in 2009 and now has over 15,000 agents in all 50 states in the US!

The Google marketing company I was working for in 2013 started in 2008 and was sold for $40AUD million 8 years later!

From a business perspective, times of uncertainty can be a good thing because I feel it makes us more open to new ideas and solutions. As business owners, this is a must because the sport of business is always changing and evolving and those who don’t adapt, are usually left behind.

If you spend money on social media ads for your venue then you must read this post carefully.

Apart from , we believe data is the currency of today.

Would you agree that coaches have been able to get more out of their players as the years have progressed thanks to player statistics? How many Tackles? Contested possessions, Frees Against etc.

Customer details are just as important for all bars and venues as well. Details like names, numbers, email addresses, Instagram usernames. Anything you want, it's completely customisable.

Here’s an example.

Let’s say 3000 guests visit your venue this week. 1500 of them have fun with The Haylo, 750 of them take advantage of offers, sharing photos they’ve taken, therefore leaving their contact information on the system.

This is now 750 new leads that you can use to create email marketing campaigns, SMS campaigns and so fourth, that should be sent out to incentivise these guests to return and spend more money at your venue ASAP.

(If you’re a business that spends money on social media ads already, how much does it cost you to even get say 10 leads?)

Using the above example, we feel the objective should be to ensure at least 75 guests (10%) as a minimum, return within the next couple of weeks. If each person spends say even $10, then that’s an extra $750 in revenue that The Haylo helped bring in for the business.
