BRAD WAS WALKING TO HIS LUNCH DATE WITH THE UNUSUAL FEELING...
..of being a little unsure of himself. Now he could have simply blamed the fact that he had a dusty head from the previous night shenanigans with the boys but it was more than that.

“I suppose, it’s not every day that some bloke randomly texts you saying “hey your mate Zoe gave me your number…you look great in that green dress on FaceBook!” he mused, but there’d been great banter over 3 weeks’ worth of messages until suddenly this girl just stopped replying…something which in Brad’s case had never happened before.

It wasn’t until last night when the confidence boost of a few drinks gave him the courage to text this gorgeous girl and ask her out, that she responded…maybe she just wasn’t that interested in him?

Then, just as he rounded the corner to the restaurant his phone pinged…Hannah Ainsworth has requested to add you as a friend…and suddenly the biggest grin lit up his face as all uncertainty melted away because he knew he was in!

Buoyed by this certainty, as they sat down to lunch, and he managed to crack a joke and suddenly the restaurant was filled with the sound of a raucous cackle which erupted from Hannah’s mouth…and now Brad was thinking “what the hell have I gotten myself in for?”

IT HAD BEEN A SCORCHER OF A WEEK, WELL A SCORCHER FOR MATT...
..who was still adapting to his new home city of Sydney…he couldn’t remember the last time Auckland cracked over 25 in November – & now he’d had over a week of it…heck it wasn’t even Summer yet!

So as the week came to an end, he decided to bail out on his typical action planned Saturday evening & recover indoors away from the heat instead. Suddenly his phone pinged. Hmm a Hinge notification….maybe this could be his heart racing adrenaline evening instead?

As he clicked on the profile, he was hooked, how could he not be, there was this gorgeous beach blonde Aussie girl who described her perfect sickie as being a hike, a surf & reading a book…& she’d liked him first!

Not one to miss out on such an opportunity, Matt quickly messaged her asking to describe said sickie in far more detail…fortunately he didn’t have wait long for a reply. That night they bonded over a shared love of everything outdoors, & their newness to Sydney…a conversation that kept going for almost a week until Matt finally got the courage to ask the beautiful beach babe, Britt, out for a date.

However, if he had thought that week & the conversation, had been hot, well he was sorely mistaken…because as their date day dawned it quite literally turned into a scorcher…a 40 degree day in fact the hottest day that month…not the greatest for fair skinned Kiwis at all!
Luckily they’d just planned a café lunch however, it raised a huge red flag for Brit when specifically said for Matt to bring bathers & he didn’t… but the long leisurely stroll after lunch where they chatted for hours & she took in his great smile & kind eyes, dismissed all her misgivings & even the blistered feet!

As they finally sat on the rocks looking out over the ocean, Matt was already asking when he could see her again & then once again taking advantage of the situation & swooped in for the first kiss or two…

CHELSEA SIGHED. IT WAS ANOTHER HUMDRUM MORNING IN THE BOWELS OF THE ABS...
..why on earth had she ever taken a secondment to this level of boredom, she honestly didn’t know.

As she moved to make herself yet another cuppa to perk herself up, she reminded herself how lucky she was to have found an early escape route to not be working through the depths of Winter in this place!

But then in the hall she passed a tall fella who with a nod of head, a soft smile and sparking eyes…made Chelsea wonder why did he look so familiar and maybe just maybe she’d made a hasty decision on leaving this place?

Back at her desk with her steaming cup but her mind already perked up with thoughts other than work, she used the art of modern technology (aka the staff directory) to figure out who he was and sent him a message on the work system to get his attention, with the best one liner she could come up with…”Hey you look familiar, are you from Eddie’s?” to which the quick reply came “Ah no, I’m not even from Canberra.”

Not one to be discouraged, in fact Chels is much more likely to be like a dog with a bone, she added him on FaceBook and once again, she hit the ball out of the park starting a conversation.

Fortunately her request was quickly accepted so her epic words “hey how are you?” didn’t fall on deaf ears because let’s face it, Braden had already clocked the smile and all the finer features of this gorgeous blonde, ages beforehand...

IN A PERFECT WORLD...
..when Keltie met James they would have tumbled into forever. But while they could pass for superstars, this isn’t a Hollywood movie, & in reality the moment Keltie’s eyes landed on James’ resting bitch face, she spent the next few months scurrying around Pine Hill trying to avoid this bloke who must be one helluva grump. From James’ perspective, Keltie was quite simply stunning & a little intimidating surrounded by the other girls on the course…so he avoided her like the plague.

But call it kismet, call it fate, call it destiny…or in other words the Australian Army’s training facilitator…James & Keltie were thrown together in group work at the end of their course, & they had to interact with each other. There they discovered that behind the image they created in their heads, reality was very different. James wasn’t a grump, well not as grumpy as Keltie had originally thought, but he was direct & unapologetic of his opinions…a confidence & assuredness that attracted Keltie. James discovered that Keltie wasn’t just a beauty with nothing behind it, her fun & easy-going personality shone brightly in the group, leaving James intrigued.

Now there is some discrepancy over who actually made the first move…each thinks the other did! But what we do know is that eventually James ended up in Keltie’s room on a regular basis where she made sure his all of his appetite was well & truly sated…either by her homecooked meals, or Uber Eats…what were you thinking?

Fortunately they established a connection beyond food & despite fate (aka the Australian Army) stepping in to post them to different locations they maintained & even strengthened their relationship. So that when James was eventually posted to Sydney? Well he didn’t even unpack in his room, & instead within 48 hours unpacked into Keltie’s & they officially became a couple…

WHEN SHAWNAH FIRST LAY EYES ON ROB IN THE HEADY WHIRL OF THE CANBERRA DRAG CIRCUIT…

they wanted to smack him for being a pretentious t**t!

Then they looked down & caught sight of his little friend…
now this could very well have been Rob’s 3rd leg…
an appendage that Shawnah did appreciate on Grinder…
but no, it was actually his 4 legged one…
Frank.

That’s right, the reason why we were all brought together is Rob’s jug, Frank, because when Shawnah clapped eyes on him, it was love at first sight & proceeded to just talk to Frank, pretty much ignoring Rob.

Eventually when they actually spoke to the man attached to the dog, they discovered Rob was not what he first seemed...

Instead of the stuck up ass Shawnah had expected, they found Rob to have a big heart & very protective even of them on their first meeting, seeing that Shawnah was being taken advantage of by another & wanting to take them away from the situation…albeit with the lure of more Frank time.

It may have taken 6 weeks to have their first date, but they were so taken with each other that neither of them can even remember what they saw at the cinema!

But in Rob Shawnah found a cheeky companion who kept them on their toes, something that was very appealing despite the sh*tty jokes that came with his sense of humour.

Rob found that behind Shawnah’s rather loud personality, was a patient, caring & very accepting heart…even tolerating Rob & his stick in the mud ways.

Something only reinforced during the coming months especially when they escaped to Sydney for Mardi Gras…where Shawnah saw just exactly how super organised, & set in his ways Rob was, because well he is old & doesn’t like to party!

Rob discovered that Shawnah packs too much, has very expensive tastes but has no idea on how to budget nor have any sort of a filter.

But despite these quirks, that could have broken any relationship, these two uncovered two hearts that beat the same…

So 12 months ago they were hitched in a festival of all creatures of the rainbow, including matching tatt reveals officiated by the Goddess of Hitching aka me.

HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY MR AND MRS LE GUIER!!

12 months ago today these two were hitched in a short, sweet and cheeky ceremony on a windswept hillside where the fact that they didn't have a love story didn't ruin the vibe! We kept it totally high with lots of fun inclusions to make everyone feel part of the moment with them and got all the feels in their amazing vows 💜

Thanks so much you two for trusting me with creating that moment for you, for letting me be your celebrant/seamstess/breathwork-coach/Ms-Fix-It on the day...you two were the BEST couple to be my 100th xx hope your journey together continues to be as epic as the adventure you've been on for the past year or so! xx

IT WAS DEEP IN THE HEART OF SUMMER SALES SEASON & KATE WAS BUSY REARRANGING DISPLAYS TRASHED BY BARGAIN HUNTERS IN THEIR ATTEMPT TO SCORE A DEAL CHEAPER THAN FAST FASHION…

Suddenly she spotted a distinguished couple she recognised entering the store. Stealthy as a hobbit, she hid in a corner, hoping that they hadn’t seen her. Unfortunately it became obvious that they required assistance & noone else was available. Kate, sighed, putting on her big girl pants to go help them & admit that she worked in lowly retail.

When she approached them, the couple were delighted to see her, warm, friendly & talked proudly of their son, Billy - Kate’s school friend, who had spread his wings in his chosen service career. Kate, in response to that socially awkward conversation, felt that the only thing she could do was proffer her number with the throwaway line “well next time he’s in town, tell him to get in touch & I’ll get the friend group back together.”

Funnily, whilst she never really thought to hear from him, as she told her bestie Jade about the conversation, a message from Billy flashed up on her phone, perhaps there was some Elvish magic at play? Being good to her word, Kate organised the friend group to get together at the local Australia Day celebrations whilst Billy was in town.
But at the last moment, every single one of their friends bailed & Kate impressed Billy by joining him with another group of his friends.

That event set the tone for what was to follow, for whenever Billy was in town, Kate organised a catch-up & all their friends ditched them every single time, leaving Billy & Kate, alone in each other’s company. Something that they both rather enjoyed & in between they kept in touch pretty much daily.

After a several of these spontaneous dates, they intentionally planned to go out just the two of them. There at the Beachie Toukley after months of seeing noone else they knew, they ran into a group of friends, to which one asked “Billy, are you two dating?” & he simply replied yes.

ONCE UPON A TIME A GINGER KNIGHT MET A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS...
..who was having a problem with a rather obsessive member of the public.

On hearing of this dilemma, being the chivalrous & dashing knight that he was, he offered to come take care of the situation for her, to which the princess responded “how are you going to handle him, you’re too skinny to fight him!”

Not one to be daunted by a challenge, the confident knight simply replied “just add me on Facebook & when you see him again, I’ll come running.”

Charmed by the knight’s Don Quixote complex, the princess couldn’t help but add him.

A few months later, on hearing of this development, the princess’ ladies in waiting, the wisest counsel in all of the land, encouraged the princess to reach out to the knight one evening whilst she was influenced by mead.

Now this could have been the start of a beautiful love story, except that the knight talked about another maiden on his arm.

Being the ethical royal that she was, she simply replied “you’re a bad boyfriend” & shut the whole thing down.

The knight realising his folly, did not take long to walk away from the other maiden & continue his pursuit of the princess, who was fully resolved not to fall for his charms.

But the knight was nothing short of persistent, & finally a few months & many nos later, the princess couldn’t help but admit he was fun to talk to & couldn’t resist granting the knight an in person audience, in the most simplest of places, a playground...

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KATE AND TOM!!

Hope you have danced your way through your first year of marriage with lots of love and plenty of pancakes 😉 ###

Tom and Kate had an awesome ceremony at Bay and Bush, Jervis Bay where their beautiful friend Ash gifted them with their love story 💜 it was such a wonderful moment to witness and share that space with Ash. We also ensured that everyone there was included in some form, especially their gorgeous daughter Ellie, who did leave us in a spot of bother when choosing who should say their vows first, so hard it was to split between her amazing Mum and Dad.

Thanks again for trusting me to create your ceremony and your official family unit xx

ON MEETING HIM ONE NIGHT AT THE GOLFIE....
..Jaime friendzoned Michael almost immediately.

Yes, that very first night after they were introduced by Danny, when they sat there drinking and chatting, Jaime went oh he seems like a cool, and fun guy, the life of the party and so invited Michael to her 21st just a fortnight later.

Now, even Jaime’s mum Shelley could see that Michael was a little sweet on her daughter, the way he stayed late to help her clean up but it came as a surprise to Jaime, that just a few days later, Michael took her to Barluca for dinner...without anyone else in sight!

So they sat there… just the three of them…Michael, Jaime and the elephant in the room, because Jaime could simply not see beyond the friendship that was forming.

Then for 18 months, yes 18 months, they chatted in a friendly way, hung out together enjoying each other’s company until Michael suddenly stopped talking to her for about two weeks.

This silence triggered an intense reaction in Jaime, who went…oh no….doesn’t he like me? OMG I miss him.

And so she reached out, and asked him, “why did you stop talking to me, and nobody else?”

To which Michael replied, “well what do you want from me?”

Jaime steadied herself....took a deep breath and said the immortal words Michael longed to hear...

“Fine, I do like you.”

Fortunately that like turned to love and three and a half years later they were hitched!

AS NICOLA CAST HER EYE ACROSS THE HEAVING DF IN THE DEPTHS OF THE BIRDEKIM HOTEL....
..& spotted Adam, her initial thought was “why the hell is he wearing a hat at night?”

Then annoyed by said hat, proceeded to knock it off him any chance she got.

A short time later, Nicola found herself standing shoulder to shoulder with hat dude at the bar, & he had the audacity to buy her a drink, so she tried to get rid of him by saying “we’re from Bankstown” in the hope of referencing the Wild West, he’d be scared off!

But instead, he replied “oh that’s where I grew up!” proceeding to then not to leave Nicola alone for the rest of the evening.

In fact they danced together so long that Nicola found herself abandoned by her cousin Nancy. When she realised this, Adam stepped up, offering to help her find her.

Once they’d located Nancy up to her own antics with the bouncers, Adam politely asked for Nicola’s number to which she quite simply replied No!

Fortunately for Adam, she did permit him to add her on FaceBook, and not wanting to pass up this opportunity, he even sent her a photo of him going home on the bus.

After a week of messaging, bonding over their love of music, rugby league (great banter about the Raiders versus the Souths) & Brooklyn 99, Adam finally got the courage up to ask Nicola out.

Nicola was a little taken aback though, as Adam turned up to the world’s classiest Mexican restaurant, GYG, with a gold ring on each finger & tried to pay for their meal with $100 notes…making her think “who the hell is this dude?”

SHON SIGHED...
..when would Tinder’s algorithm finally get it right and show her some hot women please?

Then suddenly she stopped as the brilliant smile of a gorgeous brunette filled her screen.

She swiped right and immediately landed in the brunette’s inbox with the words “OMG YOU ARE STUNNNNNING!”

The shy “Ah thanks reply” and the blunt nature of the messages that followed, left Shon in no doubt that this stunner, Nic, was certainly different than her normal type. Bonding over a love of the beach and being family oriented they chatted non-stop for about two weeks until Nic finally asked Shon to join her for a walk along the beach.

Well that walk was nothing short of a marathon, lasting three hours where Shon babbled so much that Nic fortunately barely had to say a thing, and when she did, she was able to easily deflect the questions right back onto Shon. And although Nic felt uncomfortable when Shon grabbed her arm early on and refused to let go, by the end of the evening, she realised she didn’t need words to show how she felt and kissed Shon passionately.

Although Nic had really not been looking for a relationship, she found it hard to stay away from sweet and gentle Shon and all their spare time was suddenly filled with each other’s company, hours long talks on the wharf and countless coffees and bacon and egg rolls, until finally two months after their first date, Nic asked Shon to make it official…which was met with a resounding YES!

IT WAS THE END OF A TYPICAL WEEK AT UNI...
..nearing the end of the year exams, and so Heath was trying to numb his mind, kicking back in the ultimate land of procrastination, FaceBook, randomly liking updates, inspirational quotes and of course cat videos.

When all of a sudden a photo of a stunning brunette popped up in his suggested friends, seeing they had several mutual friends and intrigued by her sultry look, Heath felt compelled to friend request her immediately. The next day she accepted and so a couple of days later Heath made the first move as a true modern romantic…he sent her a wave…

What occurred next was that Heath was dragged into the most random conversation of his life, discussing phobias with Bronwen over messenger as she simultaneously chatted in real life with her colleague Trish about the same topic, this two and a half way conversation left Heath’s head spinning and sure beat those random cat videos! Afterwards he and Bronwen continued to banter back and forth for about a week before they went on their first date, coffee and a long walk around the harbour in Shellharbour. With no view to a second date at the end, they both went their separate ways.

But Heath couldn’t stop thinking of the amazing conversation, the intelligence, sophistication and of course hotness of this gorgeous woman, and so a week later they went on a second date, this time at the Bulli Beach Café, where Bronwen who had been impressed that although Heath in all ways on the exterior seemed like a gym ju**ie, even dressing like one, could actually hold intelligent conversation and continue great banter…and was charmed by his nervousness on this second date where he even just went with ordering the same as Bronwen, despite it being full of birdseed and Quinoa…which he adorably pronounced KINOWA.

And six years later...Heath could at least pronounce his vows correctly and so Bronwen and Heath were hitched

...ALL OF A SUDDEN GEE'S EYE WERE DRAWN TO A PIC DIFFERENT FROM THE REST...

With no ci******es, beer or biceps in sight and playing footy with a look of strength and determination on his face, this was not the thirst trap she had grown accustomed to and she found herself swiping right, and landed in Mitch’s inbox almost immediately with a “Hi, how are you?”

For a few weeks the two of them pinged messages back and forth bonding over their shared love of fishing, the outdoors, Greenwell Point and not to mention good solid banter about the Knights versus Dragons!

Although Gee had been quite nervous to meet, after a previous Tinder encounter sobbed all over her on their date, when Mitch asked her to the movies she jumped at the chance.

Despite having to sit through the movie “Sausage Party” which was definitely not just her style, the moment Mitch had come round the corner, nervously 10 minutes late, her heart leapt a beat for the handsome and quiet guy who over time just made her feel more and more comfortable at being herself and bent over backwards to fulfill her needs like giving her tissues, and still adoring her when she was red eyed, puffy and snotty from her chronic hay fever.

It was no wonder that after talking for over an hour in the cold, Gee went straight in for that first kiss.

For Mitch, the moment her laid eyes on the beautiful Gee, realising that he hadn’t been catfished, and then found she was just as gorgeous inside, made him aware from the very first night that this was a special connection, one that even made him repay Gee’s commitment of sitting through THAT movie, by going to the V8s with Gee on their first mini-break a couple of months later, even though he admitted on the journey that he wasn’t even into cars, and was declaring his love first of all...

THIS IS THE STORY OF ANNIE AND NICKO...
Who met on Tinder, but fell in love thanks to the radio!

On seeing such a beautiful smile so bright,
Nicko couldn’t help but go and swipe right!

Landing in Annie’s inbox with a hey,
To which she replied, straight away!

After a couple weeks chatting,
Messages back and forth pinging,
Time was ripe to give reality a try,
So they met at a pub in the middle of Bondi.

Where a hug immediately set Annie’s heart aglow,
For the absolutely gorgeous Nicko!

Over the couple of beers they were sinking,
They realised they were the same in their thinking!
Even preferring spaghetti or cheese on toast down at a diner,
Over anything else that was much finer!

Although when he said to the beach let’s go
She said no!
Instead,
Annie said…
For some alone time,
let’s go back to mine!

Just a week after this romantic encounter,
they found themselves again back together!

This time at Nicko’s with Triple J’s Hottest 100 playing
where they sat for hours, in each other’s company just enjoying.

This became a pastime often repeated
Because in unprecedented times they had to get strategic!

But whilst for others lockdown,
Resulted in many a frown,
For these two it was smiles all round.
Finding that the special connection
Between them
Transcended any nervousness,
Keeping them bonded beyond the surface...
