To our beloved Windflower community,

We have made the incredibly hard decision to close our beautiful shopfront. As much as we have loved our street presence in Ballarat it is time for a new chapter.

Windflower will still continue to flower in the spaces of businesses, at weddings and creative events! You will still be able to order special bouquets and gifts online. Our shopfront will shut but I still have so many flowers and seasons in the future!

Stocking a store full of flowers that must be sold within a week isn’t an easy thing to do. I am constantly in awe of those who do it and do it well, especially in a current cost of living crisis. While I have truly loved the community the retail space has brought us I know my heart is in weddings and events. With the fleeting flowers that are curated for a moment in time.

Life personally for me is bigger than ever and I am living in a constant push and pull of big dreams and the reality of running a small business. Our businesses need to be in sync with our lives and this is a reminder that recalibrating is necessary to keep the magic alive.

Over the next week we will be open 10am - 2:30pm. Come and say goodbye! We have a sale instore on selected items.

We adored Lily and Jonny’s stunning red and pink garden wedding from February this year. So thrilled to see it on last week.

After chatting about colours and flowers in the months prior to the wedding m Lily and her Mother Lucy came to the store on the eve of the wedding and selected the most beautiful reds and pinks. The dahlias bouquets were made by me with Lily and Lucy creating their own special arrangements for the garden party with blooms supplied by us, Lucy’s mother garden and vegetables. Such an honour.

Deciding on what flowers to use for Sophie & Sam’s wedding was easy when we had the bountiful grounds of to pick from. We met a few times wandering the gardens and chatted about the feeling they wanted to create for their wedding. Sophie & Sam gave us full creative control and magic happened. The fruiting branches, dancing cosmos and colourful dahlias that abundantly filled the gardens continued into their marquee and to the back of a special vintage ute (owned originally by Sophie’s Great Grandfather and now her Father).

Congratulations Sophie & Sam, it was such a pleasure to be apart of your day and the dream team of vendors.

Valentine’s Day is next week 💌

We LOVE love but we know Valentine’s Day isn’t always for everyone. Showing love is personal, whether it’s grand gesture love or the gentle touches we are here for it all.

This year we are showing our love to our local growers. Dahlias are at their flushing best so it’s dahlias by the stem or in a bunch! Mixed bunches of hydrangeas and cosmos! Pre-orders will up later today. We definitely recommend doing so to not miss out! Dahlias will be limited ♥️

Dreaming up our new store and space has been so fun. We have had a longer wait than expected to open, but behind the scenes it has given us time to really refine all the details of our store and everything we want to bring to you!

As the seasons transform and change, we too will hold space for new botanicals, creatives and objects. Every season will bring a new store edit…

Our seasonal edits will be a thoughtfully curated selection of flowers, plants and objects that we personally love. All combining a love of craftsmanship and texture with an appreciation for materiality and quality.

Meet our NEW Winter branding.

A dusty, delicate pink coolly paired with a deeply soothing forest green. With the arrival of each season new offerings will come in our botanical, object, workshop and art worlds. New textures, colours, crafts and fragrances to appreciate and explore.

Celebrating seasonality is the core of what we do. So, it felt right that we create four unique colour combinations that embody each unique season.

We wanted our Winter combination to feel restful and calm, reflecting our natural desire to retreat and rejuvenate throughout the cooler months.

You’ll notice these special combinations across our website, socials, stationary and eventually in-store as well. They will change with the seasons and inspire us in different ways. They will also act as a gentle reminder to stop and appreciate what came before and look forward to what comes next.

So what’s in season this Winter?

Winter provides us with an abundance of delicate blooms, sentimental and small.

It delights us with tulips, poppies, hellebores and violets. You’ll find flowering magnolia, camellia and Jasmine along fence lines and bundles of japonica, polonia and andromeda sprawled across the market floors. The unmatched scent of daphne fills streets, shops and homes and the annual debate of how to pronounce ‘anemone’ returns. Native varieties like hakea, wattle and banksia thrive.

Educating our customers on what’s in season and how to make informed decisions on their flower choices is something we are very passionate about. Winter blooms are usually much smaller in size. They don’t pack the same full-sized punch as the standard imported Winter staples such as roses or chrysanthemum disbuds.

But, they do hold their own when it comes to beauty, fragrance and sentimentality.

We can’t wait to welcome you into our beautiful new space to keep having these conversations. 🤍
