DAY 5 - A WEEK OF VINTAGE. Back in the high school days of Home Economics class, this one is straight out of the curriculum Day to Day Cookery book. Slices were popular, whereas today it’s cookies that grace the social pages. This one was called raspberry coconut slice, sometimes railway slice in CWA cookbooks. One of my brother’s favourites, but I have made it with blueberry jam instead of raspberry. Bring back the slice I say!

DAY 4 - A WEEK OF VINTAGE Corned beef, a staple in our house when I was growing up, served with white sauce and mashed potato and freshly shelled peas. My Gran used to also cook pickled pork much the same way. Leftovers on fresh white bread, lashings of butter and pickles. Sooo worth the effort!
