It has been a massive year in Australian Poker. This year the Australian Poker Schedule (APS) is doing an online survey highlighting six players, six poker series as well as a dozen staff, media and dealers nominated by APS across seven categories. Believe me when I say it was very hard to pick just six, in such an incredible year of Australian poker!

This is a Fan vote, so Fans of Australian Poker Schedule are invited to vote for their top pick in each category and we will compile the votes and announce at the end of the year, which is next week! You will also be able to see how they are tracking along the way.

We would encourage you to vote for who you think deserves your recognition, but would like to congratulate all of this years nominees, as well as all staff operators and dealers across a very large community.

THE WORLD SERIES OF POKER® RETURNS TO HORSESHOE LAS VEGAS AND PARIS LAS VEGAS FROM MAY 27 - JULY 16🚨

The World Series of Poker returns for a fourth consecutive year to Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The series will run from May 27 to July 16, with poker’s undisputed World Championship, the “ $10,000 Main Event®,” beginning on July 2.

How good is this! The familiar face of Australian Najeem Ajez 🇦🇺 on the big stage once again at the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas Poker Room taking on the worlds best. Not only is Naj one of Australia finest players, he is widely known as a gentleman on and off the felt, loved within the poker community!

Naj took down the 5K High Roller Shot Clock Challenge at the Australian Poker League in August this year for $267K, but ridiculously he was unable to compete at any events including prestigious high roller events at WPT Prime or WPT Australia due to unexplained bans by since the end of 2022. Naj is a among a group of a dozen of Australia's top players, 5 of which are in the Top 30 All-Time Money List Earners. Seeing some of Australia's elite players travelling overseas and welcomed in the top poker rooms like the Wynn, Horseshoe, Paris Las Vegas, Altlantis in the Bahamas, Cyprus, Manila really makes a mockery of The Star casino and their attitude to do nothing about it these bans, they will not even explain them to the players at all.

A huge congratulations to Naj, he battled with the worlds best in Las Vegas, including well known top pros including Brock Wilson, Sam Soverel and Sean Winter, and finished on top once again! 👏👏👏

This result takes Naj Ajez life-time career poker tournament earnings to over $US2.3M and jumps from 29th to 18th all-time Australian money list.📈

𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗟𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗠 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗬𝗡𝗘𝗥 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗦 𝗪𝗣𝗧 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗟𝗗 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮!

It has been a huge 12 months for young Australian pro Malcolm Trayner. His year got off to a flyer with victory in the Australian Poker Open The Titan $5K (AUD$59,685), he then went over to the World Series of Poker in the Las Vegas summer where he took the win in the WSOP $1K Mystery Millions for US$1,000,000 and a prestigious gold bracelet. On return to Australia he backed that up with 4th place in the $1,500 APL Million Main Event (AU$233,160) and the jacket you see him wearing in this photo represents the final table 8th place at the recent WPT Australia Main Event (AU$71,930) in September.

Malcolm has made the trip to Las Vegas once again, to take his shot at the WPT World Championship with a strong group of Aussies including Didier Guérin. After busting Day 1A, it is reported he was leaning against refiring but ultimately was convinced to chase the glory of a prestigious tournament as opposed to cash games. Some words of encouragement from the Aussie crew and friends, perhaps a Rocky style pep talk may have helped Trayner bag 827,000 in Day 1B, and then today the Aussie crusher has parlayed that in the overnight chip lead for Day 3, after dominating on Day 2.

It is insane to think that after having a 7 figure score already this year, that just 6 months later he is a chance on topping that already. There is a long way to go, and Malcolm will know the huge task ahead even with 218 big blinds, but he has been on the big stage before, and we wish him the best of luck again, chasing the WPT World Championship glory, the Mike Sexton's Champions Cup and a whopping US$3,138,900 first prize!

Three Aussie familiar faces have made it through to Day 3 of the 2024 WSOP Paradise - $25K Super Main Event in the Bahamas.

The $50M Guarantee only fell 22 players ($550K) short of the required field, with 297 remaining and all having locked up $50K in prizemoney from the 1,978 total entries.

The unique format had 1378 players compete across 4 flights played live at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, (207 bagged for Day 3) while the other 600 players played down to 90 players on the GG Online Poker platform, now all players combine for the run to the final table, and a coveted WSOP Gold Bracelet.

A very familiar face on the felt at the Poker Palace Australia, it's been a long time since a major title for Sydney reg 𝗛𝗲𝗻𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻. The 2017 Sydney Main Event Champ has had some close calls over the last few years, (2nd - Poker Palace Winter Champs Mammoth - July '24, 2nd - WPT League High Roller - Oct '23), but this time Henry made sure he unwrapped the 1st prize trophy and $68,000 recently in the main event at Poker Palace Christmas Cup!

What a beautiful sight this is!

Congratulations to Australia's Jennifer Cassell and Bert Perry for their fantastic Tag Team win overnight in Hai Phong, Vietnam!

An amazing spin up, Australia's number #1 female GPI player Jennifer Cassell was left with just T6500 chips, (2.2BB) at 1500/3000 blinds, after Jen reported Bert punted off most of their stack, before she was tagged back in. Jen was able to quadruple their stack, moving all-in with K9o and holding to win with just king high!

Once Jen had restored a healthy stack, her and long-time partner and fellow Aussie pro didn't look back. A slight scare occurred when Bert opened UTG with QQ and had 3 callers. On a flop of J73, he continued to bet, was raised by the chip leader, then pushed all their chips in with his overpair. The chipleader surprisingly had the best hand with J3 for two-pairs, but the a queen on the river delivered a full double up, and commanding chip lead. This was enough for the pro-poker couple to finish out the tournament and collect another trophy each for their jam-packed cabinet!

it went on to say a dedicated helpdesk would be available and message was accompanied by official press release, and example Socialist Republic of Vietnam - Personal Income Tax Declaration Form.

It should be noted that all players are responsible for following the taxation laws in any country they play in, however this is rather odd as this announcement was only made mid series which raises many questions. USOP have said they will have a dedicated help desk service on site tomorrow, so hopefully players get some answers, including if players that cashed earlier in the series must pay the tax too, if they can offset expenses, losses and many others.

**Update** - The 10% tax payable that will be collected by USOP and paid to Vietnam Government is from Dec 5th - 11th. Total Winnings - Total Buy-ins x 0.1.

It is a shame that this controversy has put a dampener on series overall, as we normally hear such positive things about the Asian circuit, from low rake, smooth efficient operations, great hospitality, and an amazing player experience.
