Some beautiful moments of the Old Cellars styling for the recent Swan Valley Wedding Open Day.

The Old Cellers is one of my favourite spaces at the Estate.

Inspired by the brick walls, large wooden barrels and chandeliers, I conceptualised the sophisticated and timeless design to accentuate, soften and elevate the country-style, cellar.

Styling incorporated custom napkins and luxurious tablecloths, furniture, candles, tableware and flowers. The earth-green menus featured white text and a custom illustration of Nikola Estate’s gorgeous Chapel. They were printed on heavy, textured card and complimented and contrasted perfectly with the napkins.

Chandeliers framed the seating for the wedding couple on the head table, feature lighting in the design which anchored the head table and enhanced the space’s permanent chandeliers.

Warmth and movement were created by the flicker of the over 82 candles.

It should be fun, it should be sincere, authentic and yes, sentimental and it should definitely represent you and your partner and achieve everything you hope for your day. Lean into the incorporation (or exclusion) of the elements that will make your wedding unique to you, the moments that will surprise and delight your guests, and make them think ‘I love this, this is so ‘insert your names here”.

Personalise your wedding through your choice of venue and wedding aesthetic.

Choose a venue/location and wedding aesthetic/style that is significant to your love story. What are your passions, interests? What recreational activities do you both enjoy? Do have a favourite movie/play you would like to draw inspiration from? Where did you first meet? Where was your first date? Where is your favourite holiday destination - even if a destination wedding is not for you, you can allude to this with your venue choice and wedding aesthetic.

Define your aesthetic and make a list of suitable venues. Then enquire with each venue to ensure it can accommodate your guest list and obtain the function options/wedding package info and terms and conditions to see which fits your vision including vibe and priorities, best.

When considering your venue, pay attention to details such as cancellation policy, setup and pack down requirements, venue and noise restrictions, amenities and inclusions such as furniture and toilets, and day of assistance, as these will have budget and planning implications.

Don’t lose sight of the joy and significance of the occasion amid the details and planning. If you find yourself being swayed from what resonates with you both, pause, reflect, adjust, have open and honest conversations and get back on track. It’s an exciting time and you both deserve to love every minute of it!

Happy 2024!

As the minutes tick down to the new year and I reflect on 2023, I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the clients that have entrusted me to plan, design, style and coordinate their events, the relationships that have blossomed with industry colleagues and amazing business owners who I have met and worked with over the year and for the my personal and business growth. I am also grateful for the love and support of my family and most importantly my hubby, the person behind the scenes who I often rope into helping me bring my visions to life (often at the cost of weekends and sleep).

I am heading into 2024 with clarity, motivation and momentum and I am filled with excitement for the opportunities ahead.

Kerryn and Scott 27.01.2023, the most romantic, magical and whimsical celebration of love.

The Barn On The Ridge was the perfect setting for this elegant, fairy tale wonderland. Guests were held by nature and embraced by Kerryn and Scott’s love story.

The ceremony was set amongst rolling green hills and Kerryn surprised Scott, by organising for his friend and groomsman, to play Kerryn’s entrance song.

Kerryn and Scott recited personal vows and said ‘I do’ in front of the most splendid arbour which enhanced the location and its captivating view.

The scene was set for the pre-reception canapes and cocktails with various seating options set across the lawn in front of the barn. Hello Huey Caravan served Aperol Spritz and Spicy Margs (a bride and groom favourite) and Charlie and Dan from provided the musical soundtrack as guest frolicked between ceremony and reception.

The lawn’s permanent wishing well arbour was adorned with greenery, florals and “Cocktails and Dreams” neon sign (from Scott’s favourite movie) and a gold Victorian lounge was placed in front of the arbour, providing a fitting (and rather impressive) backdrop for the video/photo book area.

Guests were welcomed into the barn of love for the reception, a magical, flower-filled labyrinth, to get lost in the bubble of love.

Candles glinted from surfaces across the room and light was reflected from the brass flower vessels on the tables, further enhancing the magic of the occasion.

Guests enjoyed a delectable two course plated meal by Rabbit & Co Caterers and gelato was served for dessert by Scoops Gelato Bike.

Kerryn and Scott performed their first dance under the stars, surrounded by a sea of sparklers.

This wedding was in all its beauty, a midsummer night’s dream.

This was a particularly special wedding for me to plan, design, style and coordinate, as the bride is my younger sister 🥰

From concept to reality.
If I am designing and styling your event, I’ll prepare a design booklet complete with mood board, colour scheme and mockups. It’s a visual representation of what we’re working to achieve, a design bible for vendors contributing to the look and feel of your event, for example your florist and stationary designer. The white walls of City of Perth SLSC provided the perfect canvas to bring the beautiful Joanne and Nihars’ Southern Spanish summer inspired reception to life.

Plants, terracotta pots and urns and pops of majorelle blue and orange especially incorporated through gorgeous signage featuring Spanish tile patterns by the talented , set this scene for this elegant, inviting and warm celebration.

A pleasure to design and style, I loved every minute I spent on this job. Thank you, Joanne and Nihar, for entrusting me to be a part of your day!

I’m glad you’re here! I’m Lauren Williams, Director of Refine Events.

I’m an accredited and passionate planner with a keen eye for detail and driven by a dedication to deliver events unique to my clients.

I’ve been planning and coordinating events since 2009 and am grounded by a career in communications and public relations.

I departed the 8 to 5 of the corporate world in December 2021 to launch Refine Events. It’s been a wild, exciting and definitely daunting few months, which I have spent dotting i’s and crossing t’s but I can now happily and proudly launch Refine Events and start connecting with you to help you event better and stress less.

I’m a fur baby mum, wife to an amazing husband and sparkling wine/champagne drinking enthusiast (there’s always a cold bottle in the fridge and flutes nearby).
