Why would anyone get married-it won’t change anything anyway.

It’s a pretty common phrase and thank god in the year 2024 it’s acceptable to live as a couple, raise a family, maybe buy a house or adopt a dog. I mean it took years to get where we are as a society & it should be celebrated loud & proud. 🙌

It’s hard to explain but there is something magical about being able to call your partner your husband or wife though. It’s a whole new level of commitment & there’s something real special about it.

To those who fought for marriage equality for years it’s the ultimate reward to be able to wed their lover and have equal privileges & be recognised the same in the eyes of the law in Australia.

So as a partner to marriage with 15 years experience I can say I felt something different the day I became a wife. I felt the future looked bright and that in that moment all the hardships we had faced were behind us and we moved to the future with a clean slate.

I felt that even though there would be things constantly thrown at us we’d always push through to come out stronger on the other end.

And don’t get me wrong, at the same time marriage is HARD. It can be constant compromise & bickering. It can be arguing over things that don’t really matter or feeling like your flung off the top of a seesaw with the mental load. It can sometimes biting your tongue to avoid conflict & sometimes letting loose & wishing you had’ve bitten your tongue.

But at the end of the day is it all worth it? You betcha. Whilst marriage isn’t probably the fairytale you’re hoping for it is a commitment like no other and totally worth all the blood, sweat & tears 🫶

Introducing John & Linda, the most beautiful humans you ever did meet who just wanted to be married & look at them now. 💍

On Saturday 4th May 2024 in front of an audience of around 4,000 festival goers in attendance John & Linda sealed the deal and got hitched in the funnest & most public wedding the Wimmera/Grampians region has ever seen.

They’ve been thrown so much heartache their way in the last year & I’m super grateful to have gotten to know them both in the last 6 weeks & finally made their dreams true by officially making them Mr & Mrs Hunt 🙌.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this article on Mavis a celebrant pioneer in the Wimmera.

She was my own celebrant back in 2008 and i’ve always admired her commitment to her career and how dedicated she was to seeing change in the industry.

Mavis Kirsopp refused to let others – or herself – limit her potential. Mavis lived by the credo, ‘I did it my way’, and she certainly did.

What are the essential vendors you need on your wedding day? 👋

I had a zoom chat with a couple a few weeks ago & was taken back a little when the couple mentioned they’d booked all the essentials & only had a few little things left to go.

They had the venue, videographer, musician, photographer etc booked but not the actual celebrant which actually legalises it all.

And it’s made me realise that we need to open the conversation more about how the services of a celebrant can actually make or break your day. Cause let’s be honest without a celebrant you’re just havin’ a big expensive party 💃 .

A celebrant is the heartbeat of your ceremony which in turn totally sets the vibe for the rest of the festivities. We’re not just talking about someone who shows up, reads a script, and calls it a day (well not with me anyway-if only it was that easy 😂). A celebrant is your story-weaver, vibe creator, and the magical piece of the puzzle that lights up the whole shebang! 🎇

Your love story deserves to be told in a way that’s as unique and fabulous as the two of you. And who better to do that than someone who’s all about breaking the mold and making waves? 🌊

When you’re investing in high class vendors a celebrant has an important job in bringing big energy, to create the laughs, tears & emotion. Without it your amazing vendors such as photographers & videographers may have a harder time getting the best results if the ceremony is monotone, boring & lifeless.

And if there’s a big buzz in the air during the ceremony the vibe will only get higher & higher into the evening. 🥂

Cheers to Renee & Rob’s breathtaking winery wedding at Mt. Staplyton Wines back in February! 🥂 The stunning vineyard backdrop was the perfect view for our lovers to say ‘I do’ and every little detail of the day was pure magic. The bridesmaids totally rocked varying shades of pink & all the little details were exquisite 👌.

Where will I stand during your ceremony?

Your day is 💯 all about you so I like to make sure my couples are both fully in the spotlight so your guests can soak up the fun & emotion of the ceremony.

For the majority of the ceremony I’ll stay close by but not smack bang in the centre of you both & you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be no where to be seen for the big end of ceremony ‘kiss’💋.

During the ceremony I won’t bore your guests by talking about how long I’ve known you or anything to do with words of wisdom about my own marriage because the day isn’t about me. 🙅‍♀️

Following the ceremony I will try to jump in for a quick pic with the newlyweds, have a little chat with your guests and sometimes enjoy a sneaky glass of bubbles whilst soaking up those just married feels. Then i’ll sneak away to let you party it up for the rest of the day until the early hours of the morning 💃 .

Fun fact-What’s the form you’ll often see me getting a signature on from a bride or groom right before a ceremony starts?

It’s called a “DONLIM” & refers to the Declaration of No Legal Impediment to Marriage. It’s an acronym that stands for this official document, which is found on the reverse of one of the three Certificates of Marriage. An authorised marriage celebrant provides these certificates for the couple, along with their two witnesses, to sign on their wedding day. By signing the DONLIM, both parties in the marriage confirm that neither is already married to someone else, among other legal declarations that ensure there are no legal obstacles to their marriage.

In short, by signing the form it’s why you’ll never hear a celebrant ask if anyone ‘objects to this marriage’ during the ceremony as by signing it you are declaring you are free to marry!

Signing ya lives away…….Did you know the final piece of the legal requirements on your wedding day is signing your certificates with 2 witnesses?

Who can be your witness you ask? Anyone in attendance who is over the age of 18 & who understands english is all you need to consider.

I’ve seen witnesses that are wedding party members, parents, siblings, grandparents, friends, vendors & even had a random draw! Sometimes the witnesses are kept as a surprise too which can add a lovely touch on the day 🥰 .

I don’t like to make the signing process too formal so we won’t be there for long, nor will I make you hold up your certificate for a cringy photo. Photographers are all over it and will get the pics they need so there’s no need to stage anything like the cool, calm just married feels legend Justine from has captured perfectly in this pic from the epic wedding of .cameronn & Brylie🔥

We can sign during the ceremony for a more traditional feel or if you’d prefer to sign after that’s an option too! If we sign post ceremony I encourage popping a bottle of bubbles or cracking a beer to soak in those just married feels and sign ya lives away.

All these options are something I discuss with my couples at our planning meeting because I’m all about options and making no 2 ceremonies the same. ✌️

Oh Boat Elope-I heart you 😍

Last Thursday on Jan 11th 2024 I had the absolute honour of legalising the nuptials of the stunning & Dylan onboard
for our first ever boat elope.

We had Dylans mum & dad onboard as the witnesses and Amy from As Time Goes By Dimboola took care of the sensational grazing box which the couple could take with them.

Sarah from was there to photograph the beautiful moment on the boat and took the newlyweds around Dimboola to get some more pretty amazing pics which have showcased Dimboola's hiden treasures so perfectly! 📸

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Hartwich, it far exceeded our expectations on just how amazing the elopement would be. 💜🥰🙌🙏🥂🎉🔥

So what does 2024 look like for Becky B? The wedding industry is diversifying massively this year and my diary is looking quite different from the past few years.

Couples are choosing to book ceremonies 7 days of the week over just the traditional Saturday so it means I have heaps more availability for adventures & hitching all over the place.

You’ll be seeing lots of me popping up with Kate and the iconic Mabel, Victorias only tiny chapel, for elopements and micro weddings which are a super popular option at the moment 💒 .

There will some legals only ceremonies taking place for those who ‘just want the piece of paper’ and a super easy no BS way to making your relationship ’offical’.

There will be some pretty cool big weddings where the couples are absolute legends and I know the guests are going to turn up the party vibes right from the start 💃.

And then throw in some MC gigs where I’m excited to hang around for to keep the high vibes flowing and good times going into the evening. 🎤

There might be some pop up days, maybe a giveaway so watch this space as I’m really pumped for a massive year ahead.⚡️
