Are you currently picking a wedding venue?
My top tips ✨
1. Choose a space that your guest list can fill. It brings an incredible energy when the venue size matches the guest list size.
2. All-weather options. If you’re getting married in and around Melbourne, we know the weather can be a little bit (a lot) unpredictable. Make sure you suss out how the location will suit a cold and rainy day AND a stinker. Hint: greenery is oh-so-cooling on a hot day☀️
3. Find a place that is meaningful or reflective of both of you. Your venue will tell a story if it’s own. Make sure it matches yours.
4. Think about the proximity to the reception - think about how your guests will make their way from one place to the other. The simpler, the better!
5. Find somewhere that is already beautiful but can be enhanced by styling and florals. It will give you the ability to scale up or down.

What a DELIGHT marrying the s**t out of Gill and Adam on the weekend.
I especially loved the way they chose to get engaged and married their own way, including the elements of tradition that suited them only and ditching the rest.
It’s not often that a couple approaches me who locks in their wedding before the proposals (that’s right, 2 x proposals) are finalised, but I love it. Why the hell not?!
When it came to choosing witnesses, they picked them on the day from everyone’s names in a jar! And I’ve truly never seen two witnesses so honoured and emotional to be selected. 💕

Caitlin and Anish 💕 One of my favourite ceremonies because a) Albert Park lake is such an iconic location b) they chose a time of day that they preferred c) they picked the cultural practices and wedding traditions that actually meant something to them and created a modern ceremony that was truly their own. Side note: Anish gets top marks for the most organised groom I’ve worked with. Potential wedding planner. Watch this space!

The most relaxed bride and groom I ever did see. Amanda and Heath were bride and groom goals - so chilled, so happy and had totally planned their day to focus on having fun and spending time with their guests. They did most their photos before the ceremony so they could join their family and friends straight after the ceremony for chilled pre-reception drinks and had some hilarious surprises throughout the day and night. 10/10 for giving a wedding their own vibe.

Like so many couples through 2020 and 2021, Erica and Dan had to endure postponements, a new venue search, end-of-lockdown unknowns, border closures, parking tickets (lol), an accidental typo in the text message to every guest which totally changed the meaning. There was a scaled back guest list, friends and family who couldn’t make it, and then… an original venue miracle, a last minute capacity increase and perfect Melbourne weather.
While it didn’t go as originally planned and there were some special people who couldn’t get there (including all of Dan’s groomsmen), it was so so so good to see these two happy smiling faces on the day. In the end, nothing mattered. Sunny Melbourne weather (I know, right?) was just what you deserved. So glad you’re hitched, legends! And I am still laughing over that speech. 😂
Elise and Daniel’s wedding was the kind of wedding you wish you could relive again and again because it was SO MUCH FUN. If a photo had to sum up the level of happiness these two (and all of the guests) had that day, it’d be this. 💕🐊💃🏝
Are you over the feeling that EVERYTHING is cancelled?! It sure feels like it’s never going to end here in Melbourne. But better times are coming... and they’re going to be better than ever. They’re just around the corner. I can feel it. I can almost smell it. 🤗
Did you hear the good news?! From 11.59pm on Tuesday 12 May, weddings in Victoria can have TEN guests attend, PLUS a the couple and celebrant. Woo hoo!
