I’ve always been a big believer in finding your passion in life.

My Mum tells me I used to dance to the channel 9 nightly news theme song as a toddler, so maybe I was always meant to become a journalist or do something in the media space?

With coming up to its first year as an operational business, I realise it would never have been possible without all of the fails I faced in my first few years of journalism.

Business is hard.

There’s so many things. All of the things. Most of the things are up to you to figure out, with a pinch of everyone else’s opinion scattered throughout.

I used to feel alone in the journey of starting a business, but I’ve quickly realised just how lucky we are to have so many supportive people out there who’ll help you.. but you just have to ask.

There’s plenty of fails. There’s plenty of ‘what am I doing?’, there’s plenty of tears (maybe the 3:30am alarms exacerbate those on some days) but once upon a time I dreamt of being the woman I am today.

And I wouldn’t change a thing.

Thank you to all those who’ve been part of the fails, the tears and the small wins.

My dream was to bring something different to the Adelaide market that people can use to keep the memory of their special day alive for years to come. If that sounds like something you’re keen to have at your wedding or next event, let me know.

When I started my degree in journalism, I wanted to be a writer.
The type where you write words, but you're not seen.

I never thought I was good enough to be seen. I wasn't stick thin like the women on the TV. Didn't really understand makeup. Wasn't sure how to deal with boys. Never felt like I quite fitted in. I always felt like the odd one out.

Life it seems, always had other plans though.

All of a sudden after a five-week trip to America, I left my boyfriend, I moved in with my sister, her partner and their baby and I put my head down. I was unhappy with the life I had been living, and just felt like there was more out there.

If you'd told me I was working in radio and using my voice everyday both on broadcast and print, plus running a new business, I would have laughed at you.

The issues facing not only women, but society are always going to be there. There's no quick fix, but when I see the amount of people who stand up and use their voice and work hard to create a better world each and everyday, I have a hope that the next generation are in better hands.

So I leave you with this:
Don't ever feel like your voice isn't good enough and that you don't deserve a spot at the table. Women before you have moved mountains, and while your voice might shake to start, using it is the most important thing you'll ever do in your life.

Time for Chats had a little dress rehearsal this weekend.

My sister was a bridesmaid at the wedding I attended and was the first interview (to also help reduce my anxiety and nerves).

This picture sums up our relationship and is now probably my favourite photo.
