When I started my search, I made a few mistakes on the way

My advice for anyone else looking...

💗 Research wedding outfits (not just dresses) before you head off to the shops

💗 Get someone to take a photo if you in EVERY OUTFIT, whether you like it or not

💗 Look at these photos in the comfort of your home before deciding

With all the options, shopping can sometimes feel overwhelming

But follow this advice and keep it fun and memorable!

We did it, all for $500 ✨

We invited about 60 of our friends who had been part of our 8-year journey.

We spent the whole day (and night) catching up, doing speeches, dancing and making beautiful memories 🥰

Hi, I'm Carolina 👋 I'm a planner by nature living a mindful life with my best friend/ hubby. My close friends would describe me as thoughtful, caring & fun 🥰

I married my partner of 10 years back in 2020... in March... on the 7th (yep, just in the tick of time before the start of the oh so famous Melbourne lockdown 🤯)

Our wedding day was an incredible end to a roller-coaster journey. First words that come to mind to describe our day are present, emotional and "just so us" ✨

This is very unique to our wedding planner ❤

Make sure to share with them,

👉 Your wedding day timeline - so they can organise their day accordingly.

👉 Any timings around speeches - so they can add final touches and practice their timing.

👉 Wedding Day outfits, shoes and/or any accessories - so they can try it on, and store it all together.

Once you have done this, leave the rest up to them to sort out 😮

Thinking about shredding for your wedding?

Before planning your any further I want you to ask yourself who are you losing the weight for?

❤️ For yourself - I see that as such a beautiful gesture to build on your

❤️ For your fiancé - Didn’t they just agree to spend the rest of their lives with you, at your current pants size?

❤️ For other people - Let me share a lesson learnt, don't waste another minute thinking about it if it's for them

❤️ For society's pressures of looking the most amazing you have ever looked in your entire whole life for this one day - Please refer to above point.

Your wedding is a celebration to look back on with love and joy, not the weeks of added stress leading up to it. Lead your actions with self love and compassion throughout this wedding planning journey.

Whether it's a wedding dress, tux or another type of outfit, here are 3 tips on how to stay within your personal budget

💍 Before booking a visit in store to try on some outfits, search online for store that sell within your budget range

💍 Consider buying an off-the-shelf item with minimal adjustments, loads cheaper compared to a custom design

💍 Reach out to a garment maker with your inspiration photos and see if they can stitch you up something uniquely yours in your budget range!

You have said YES to the dress/ tux/ outfit... now what? 🤔

Before you leave, make sure to book in two fittings prior to your wedding. The store/ garment maker will suggest the best timeframes for you.

When it comes to your fittings, make sure to wear some nice undergarments and bring your wedding shoes, or shoes of similar height so they can tailor accordingly.

Tag a friend who is currently wedding outfit shopping 🤗

Tossing up on whether to have a make up artist on your wedding?! 🤔

Here's why you should

💄 Make up artists are experts with make up application, knowing what products will last long and show up better for you on a professional camera.

💄 They work amazingly under pressure, it's not their first rodeo.

💄 It's their one job for the day, you have many more so please where possible delegate so you can be more present on your day.

Every couple has a unique budget and some brides are skilled in makeup artistry, but I highly recommend booking in a professional so you can be pampered the morning of your big day!

Working 9 to 5, and paying all your wedding vendors upfront!

I recommend you take a moment to reconsider. Why?

💰 Your money is always better sitting in your account until your expenses are due (possibly paying off a loan interest or showcasing your amazing savings habit to the bank)

💰 Life happens between now and your wedding day, and that extra money could come in handy for any say emergency dental work.

💰 In case of a cancellation or reschedule, you're better off chatting about a deposit amount (versus a full invoice).

Have you ever heard of a bride say they didn't recognise themselves after getting their make up done on their big day? Let me share a mindful approach to ensure you do not become said bride

💄Collect inspo photos and decide whether you would like your make up to elevate your natural daily look or transform you for a day

💄 Research make up artists aligned to your make up style and inspo photos

💄 When booking a make up artist, make sure to ALSO book a trial a few weeks prior to the wedding day

💄 BONUS TIP! Book your trial in the morning so you can see how the make up looks throughout the day

Melbourne Weddings are back baby, woohoo 💗

I'm sure the last few months has been an emotional rollercoaster. But with today's announcement, I ask you to pause for a moment and give yourself permission to take a break from wedding planning this week.

Give your mind, body and heart some time to heal from its constant worried state, so it can get energised and excited for what's ahead (and don’t worry, your wedding vendors will still be there at the end of the week with open arms) 💞

I recommend after this week's mini vacay, pick specific times to talk wedding stuff moving forward. Organise a regular time that suits you both to check in and talk all wedding stuff - ideas, decisions, etc. This helps you to feel there’s more to life than this one big day. Why not have fun with it too, I used to love checking in with hubby on Friday nights before a massive Saturday morning wedding planning session 🥰

Now there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, how are you feeling after today's announcement?

How to save $$$ on wedding flowers 💐

Working out a game plan helped us to pick a florist whose work we loved, and whose services were within our budget.

Wedding flowers were not high priority in our wedding budget (or in our minds) so it also helped our budget when we mindfully simplified our brief.

💐 We stuck to a 2 colour palette - Green and white.

💐 We kept our items list short - Bride's bouquet, bridesmaid's bouquet, buttonholes for groomsmen, buttonholes for the men in our immediate families, simple arbour design and table centrepieces.

💐 We kept our table centrepieces simple - We opted for a dozen or so mason jars with some flowers in them.

💐 We reused where possible - After our ceremony our bouquets became the decorations for our gift table, mantel piece and main table.

Wedding flowers, real or fake? 🌹

When I started planning my wedding, having fresh flowers was a must for me for its beauty, vibrancy and smell.

But being budget-conscious, I couldn't accept spending lots of $$$ on something I knew would only last a couple of days, so I explored my options.

Ultimately I choose to go with real flowers but it came at a cost. After lots of thinking, prioritising and mindful decision making, we set a budget based on how comfortable we were to spend on this. I then reduced my list of flower items, simplified my brief and shopped around for multiple quotes being very clear on my budget.
