What an honour it was to marry my friends Odette & Michael in an intimate, bush elopement. With just their witnesses, the photographer and myself present, we laughed, cried and celebrated in the most stunning spot over looking the Blue Mountains National Park. The simplicity, rawness and intimacy of elopements are just so special and definitely my favourite.

When I tell you that Chelsea & Tim were married at home, is this the scenery you’d expect? Spectacular right..

On the 27th April this year, they shared their favourite spot on their property with family & friends as they exchanged vows becoming husband and wife. Guests were driven up in 4wds and treated to the most intimate and heartfelt ceremony amongst the gumtrees.

I say it all the time but this is your reminder, do your wedding YOUR way. What an honour it was to be invited to wed Mr & Mrs Watkins.

Weddings are a very special occasion for you to celebrate everything that makes your love unique. It can anything from bright and fun, to formal and more traditional.

There are very few parts that are exactly the same in every wedding simply because they are legally obligated bits. This moment right here, is where I read the monitum out loud, explaining to you what marriage is legally in Australia and outlining the obligation you are both consensually entering in the next few moments. It’s right before I invite you to recite your legal vows that seal the deal.

It’s the part that takes your ceremony from being a wedding to a marriage. It’s a pretty special moment if you ask me.

When the vision comes to life!

When I meet these two to sign their paperwork in the lead up to their wedding, they took me for a walk around the ceremony space and surrounds to show me their vision for their wedding day. They got up on this log and we laughed about how they would have to take their shoes off & get up there in their dresses for photos. Wasn’t it worth it though!!!

I am so grateful that even though my time living in Queensland was cut dramatically short, that I got to marry these two in such an incredible location. Thank you for choosing me to be apart of your special day 🤍

“A lot of people, including one of my best friend says they don’t believe in marriage. And even as a person who actually captures the real joy and happiness that comes from a marriage, when I listen to their reason, I see where they are coming from. There is no right or wrong with this really.

Love is trust. But it also comes with a lot of responsibilities to love someone. For me, a marriage seems like a one extra step you take to say, that you accept those responsibilities, that you are willing to take even more responsibilities in the future and that you are willing to do so with each other. It’s a one step but a big step.

Again, you don’t get married just to prove your love or trust. But I have to say, when I hear my couples say “I do”, it does something to my heart more than when I hear “I love you”.

I could not have said it better myself. 🤍

Providing a dress code or color palette can be helpful for guests who are unsure of what to wear to a wedding. It can also contribute to the overall aesthetic and ambiance of the event, making it feel more unified and intentional. At least here with black, it is classic & timeless.

Ultimately, whether or not to give guests a dress code or color palette is a personal choice that depends on your priorities and values as a couple. If you do choose to provide guidelines, it’s important to communicate them clearly and with sensitivity to your guests’ preferences and circumstances.

Tomorrow I fly out to for the much anticipated “Not another celebrant retreat” hosted by the incredible team that is & .work.wives

My soul needs this soo bad right now. 2024 has been on hell of a ride so far. My entire life as I knew it has changed & there’s so much more to come. My business has been intentionally quiet as a result as I navigate my way through & figure out who I am in this space again.

So this retreat which is a mix of professional development, physical & spiritual enrichment, rest and good old human connection is EXACTLY what I need!

I can’t wait to return, settle into my sunny new Brissy address & get back to what I love, marrying the best people again xx

Keen to try a new position? 😏 Jackie mentioned during a wedding planning session that she had seen on social media, a ceremony where the celebrant stood at the back of the aisle. Hey, I’m Kelly

Hey there! I thought it was about time that I actually introduce myself. I have been struggling with how to “brand” myself - it has been a real journey of self-discovery recently! Then it hit me, just as my husband says about me - I am a chameleon. I don’t have a particular style or look, I change it all the time depending on my mood and/or the occasion. My spiritual side wants to refer to it like Yin Yang. A divine balance of both feminine and masculine energy which work in perfect synergy. Have I lost you yet?

Even in a professional capacity, I have a super feminine side of me which comes from being a hairdresser for almost 10 years then stronger, more masculine side of me coming from 10 years serving as a Police Officer. What does this mean for me now as a Marriage Celebrant?

Firstly above all, I LOVE love. Love to me is what illuminates the darkness in the world - and trust me I’ve experienced enough to know this. It means if you’re getting married, I am here for you. I am excited to travel far and wide, to attend white, traditional ceremonies right through to moody & romantic soirees. Have a fave movie or them song you want to incorporate? Let’s do it!

No matter who you & who you are marrying - as long as there is a love fest happening to celebrate that then I am here for it! I have been married twice myself and wrote both ceremonies entirely. My second marriage blended both my & my husband's children so we incorporated them into the ceremony and it was delicious. That is us in the photo above
