Mordialloc Sailing Club was officially established in its present location in the late 1950s and it has connections with sailing at Mordialloc since the 1890s. Originally located on the island as part of the Mordialloc Motor Yacht Club, it broke away to form its own club in 1946. It has a history that includes 12 square metre Sharpie sailing and Olympic representation. The honour boards displayed within the club rooms attest to the rich history of sailing at Mordialloc.

We had light but good sailing conditions and the breeze improved in time to get in two good races in the afternoon. McCrae Yacht Club said their breeze dropped to zero on Saturday, so MSC was grateful to get it.

The sea conditions on Saturday meant no racing at MSC; however, two relatively new sailors teamed up with two very experienced sailors to do a bit of rough conditions training. Danxi was in Pacer A with Commodore Chris, and Peter was in Pacer J with Past Commodore Drew. Your editor along with Hugh, Danxi's partner, were on binoculars in the tower, with Crawford on rescue standby.

Last Saturday saw a large crowd of over 120 people enjoy the MSC Opening Day, as our 2024/25 Summer Season was launched. Our volunteers undertook a great deal of planning and work behind the scenes to make Opening Day happen; and there were many volunteers on the day who made the day such a success - we thank each and every volunteer.

Official representation from Mordialloc Motor Yacht Club, Black Rock Yacht Club, Beaumaris Yacht Club, Chelsea Yacht Club Inc Victoria Australia and Parkdale Yacht Club attended in support of MSC. Three representatives from our great and long standing supporters Community Bank Parkdale and Mentone East attended. Representatives from Australian Sailing - Victoria also came in support of MSC. Amy Salisbury from SeaSoul Sauna, and Vonda Keji from Better Health Network also came along to help us celebrate.

To officially open our Summer Season, was Mayor Cr Jenna Davey-Burns, Wattle Ward, City of Kingston and Member for Mordialloc Tim Richardson MP.

We thank our official visitors, who continually support our club, we also thank the many MSC members and members of the sailing community who attended and made the day an enjoyable one.

The youth sailors got to train before the weather turned and went on to make saling increasingly difficult. The Mordy Cup was postponed and, as the sky turned dark, was abandoned. The Mordy Cup will run this coming Saturday.
